“and I’m saying things, that I don’t mean, that I do mean”
This song is so calm and relaxed as if Drake is attempting to serenade someone. Yet, the first line of the song is “First time in a long time, hurtin, deeply, inside”
Then the verse is just so lackadaisical and nonchalant as if he doesn’t give a f*** even though the “pain” he’s feeling inside and describing is pretty sad.
He’s saying things that he means but not sure if he should express those feelings as he doesn’t “want you to want me, because there’s no way that you’re sorry”
The flow on this... 90s early 00s (I’m probably gassing)
Then he starts flowing flowing where he’s not rapping but he’s not singing and it just seems so effortless as he tells that someone “when I scooped you in the Maybach was the only time a nigga make you take a backseat, why you do that little s*** to me shawty?”
The way ‘trust’ gets sung around the entire song and the hook/bridge “hurting deeply inside” gets brought back in after a few lines... such a well structured song.
Chris Brown added the perfect subtle back up vocals for the song where it felt like he couldn’t even compete at times? I might be crazy.
Very elite....i just made a playlist with classic R&B and had to include and it was not out of place
Yeah the more I listen to this project the more it becomes my favorite Drake project
