Come on get to 100M
first time UMG has mentioned Drake in over 8 years
first time UMG has mentioned Drake in over 8 years
The market is clearly seeing what Drake is putting out there.
One of your S Tier artists plans to walk, and unless you give up serious $$$ you are risking a noticable % of future potential stream market share, and sending a terribe message to all other artists who aspire to reach Drake level is about working with UMG longterm.
People can say what they want but Drake may have played this perfectly between the lawsuit and dropping 3 albums at once, even if he has a clause in his contract making him have to wait a year to drop again after leaving, this is so much music that being on ice for one year is nothing. And hes made it clear with the lawsuit, this is not empty threats for UMG he would take a haircut elsewhere to leave them. He sees how they tried to lowball him from a beef they profited from at his expense, and he will walk over it if they don't over compensate.
UMG would be taking a serious risk to let Drake walk because there is such a huge contagion risk that letting an artist like Drake walk could start. They messed up and should have givin him the orginal 500M / 600M even when the beef ended. Its clear Drake been fielding offers and can get a $1B+ elsewhere and be willing to take a haircut to just leave UMG. If Drake is at indie label that will be a huge influence for the next generation of artists. For the market calculating that risk is impossible, and i would absolutely sell shares avoid UMG untill its resolve. Its a gamble any business would understand its not worth it, They are gonna have to pay a tax for how Drake sees how things went or they are f'd.
Wow Janice doing even better

B-b-but look he’s got the streams… lmao dude dropped three trash albums and they’re not doing as well as first predicted. Spotify had to walk back their lies about records, and the fall off from release date to next date streams has continued to be sad. Not to mention MJ beat him with Billy Jean returning, and the music on all three albums is universally being clowned. Drake fans keep losing

Hold on now... let's see if any of these songs end up sticking. This first week is incredible but the real hurdle is the longterm performance

Iceman (as an album) will be fine, all Drake albums (besides HNVM) have had strong longevity.
The other 2 will probably not but thats expected
