I've always been against both claims
So you believe Family Matter should of been blocked by the label?
I've always been against both claims
No because Drake has a video of what he did
He needs a lot of things and the one he needs the most is to go
We agree this time, Zack
Not every artist is drake, a lot of artists sign to a label just so they can get their music into the public eye, would be awesome if it wasn’t the case but that’s just how the industry is built currently.
Explain why it would be a positive thing for these artists to have to face censorship when releasing their music?
There won't be any censorship, and I was specifically talking about diss tracks.
In the past there was politicians blaming every bad thing that happened on rap music. If there was gonna be censorship, it would have been happened.
So you believe Family Matter should of been blocked by the label?
I don't think any of them should've been blocked by the label
But I don't think a label should launch one of their biggest campaigns of all time to push such a song - against their own Artist, mind. Some contractual obligations that they failed to fulfil

Would you be saying this if family matters was in not like us’s position right now
Wait so drake Stan’s are now siding with label control? Lmao which one is it
Drake stans when UMG took down The Story of Adidon on YT:
Drake stans when UMG didn't suppress Not Like Us:

SoA was taken down because of a Jay Z sample.
Even then it wasn't an official release and there wasn't any payola behind it (the main point of the lawsuit).

Important to consider

I am aware that it is a rare quality in here but my opinions on subjects do not change depending on the artists

Show us evidence that the Not Like Us marketing push was one of UMG’s “biggest campaigns of all time”

i think zachary is jumping the gun a bit, the claim drake is making is that it was their biggest push, we don't really know the answer until the lawsuit is over

I know that. But Zack is presenting the claim as fact, so I’m asking him to post some evidence backing it up
Important to consider
i do understand this take, and i understand why people dislike drake for this, and im 50/50 on the lawsuit as well
but drake isnt suing kendrick for saying pedophile, hes suing his label for (allegedly) doing more than they usually would in an attempt to devalue drake for his contract
NLU could've called Drake a ghost writer again and I think he'd still be filing this lawsuit

zachary comments his own opinions and ideas as fact as long as they suit his narrative, just let him have it and move on

They still largely played a part in it getting taken down

You couldn't convince me that Drake wasn't in UMG's ear pleading them to get it taken down just to soften the L he took

i get ur point but 1. its like 6 years apart and 2. it was removed for a copyright claim not because they were defending drake

He 100% was. Thats why he was so surprised that UMG didn’t do this with Kendrick’s diss songs

Why copyright claim a song if the artist using the sample isn't making a penny off of it? What's the issue here? Something's clearly not adding up here man

legally you basically have to
even if a copyright infringement doesnt hurt you in any way or benefit the other person, you're required to enforce it

I don't buy it but let's agree to disagree
