If that's the case, why not let the case go to trial so Drake can also lose there?

that’s a case that could last multiple years, no one is trying to invest those resources from either side lmfao

i have a simple driving charge and my lawyer been getting court pushed back 3 times from 2023 to late 2025 so he can gather evidence for the case to be dropped without trial

Do they really think the judge will be like "Yeah, should've just taken your L bruh."

It's the court of law, and these niggas are moving like it's Jerry Springer

    Man, shut up.

One second, you’re saying you’re done giving your opinion and the next you’re still asking questions.

If you have a genuine interest in how defamation arguments work, I’ll share. It’ll probably help you understand if Drake can move to trial.

    But stay consistent love

she tryna get back to real cases not millionaire vs billionaire money battles

We went from, "Did the diss miss the mark?" To "Will she dismiss the case?"

This is where they set themselves up. The very idea that Not Like Us isn't defamatory, is false. A better case would have been them suggesting that Drake also made defamatory remarks aimed at Kendrick lmao.

    They did

man UMG gonna post the video as evidence that Dot was misled by the accusers actions???

They never had a solid defense against this s*** because they never imagined Drake would actually sue. That's why the only thing that can do is lazily double down with "he's just mad he lost a rap battle and that's why he's suing us." Definitely a choice when Drake's lawsuit fired off a myriad of other reasons why he's suing lol.

My guess is that the judge rules on it going to trial, if only to see what else Drake's side comes up with to make their case but we'll see.

he is just mad he lost a rap battle and that's why he's suing UMG

Again, you’re focusing on language that isn’t essential to the legal argument UMG presents to the court.

It’s ok to say you don’t understand the law of defamation. Your focus on red herrings is showing that.

    red herring

    talk that talk king 🗣️

“Heard that one of them lil kids MIGHT BE Dave frees”

Not the same at all, UMG has public defenders

Right? Drake's lines on Dave Free were actually hyperbolic.

it always getting spun as a defense of UMG is disingenuous

it is an a***ysis of the case not having good legs to stand on based on similar actions by the accused that triggered the entire situation after being warned to stop he continued to prod

good for Drake for standing up for himself AFTER accepting dropping diss songs with heinous rumors, accepting a $400M check from UMG and $100M check from a gambling website, but let’s not keep acting like he wasn’t “the CEO of universal” just less than 12 months ago lol

it’ll likely be given some weight in the argument that lyrics cannot be taken as factual as UMG is arguing that it’s up to a reasonable listener’s opinion.

However, Drake’s petition was in support of lyrics being used as fact in a criminal context, which isn’t relevant to defamation.
