To sell more records and make more money, like Taylor does. Just plain business. That strategy just wouldn’t work quite as well for Drake in terms of sales though so he doesn’t do it.

    You’re dumb as s***

Rappers ain’t doing something like this. These types of remixes are for pop artists like Taylor

HAIR LOSS wilding for replies Drake literally got bars about not doing any gimmicks for that #1 lol

This guy is slow lmao. What's being discussed here isn't hard to comprehend. It's cheap tactics.

Drake sells a lot of merch but didn't lower himself to merch bundling in that era and takes pride in his hits being more organic rather than manipulated. That's it.

And did you just say that no one would buy remixes to Drake’s music… oh lord y’all just get on here and say anything

Yes, people stream Drakes’s music (and most hip hop in general). Remixes would not have anywhere near as high digital sales as Taylor does. Nobody buys the digital album as it is.

He doesn’t drop physicals because they’re not going to increase his sales that much to make it profitable to do so. He has streaming on lock. Again, there’s no way he’s deciding to just throw money into the garbage because he thinks physicals are unethical or something crazy like that.

Notice how you sneakily changed your narrative. Earlier you said Drake doesn’t sell physicals simply because no one will buy it.

But now you’re saying ppl WILL buy it, he just doesn’t see any monetary worth in it. You just embarrassed yourself

Nicki is doing similar but yes mostly they’re not doing it because it wouldn’t be that successful for them. Has nothing to do with “artistic integrity” though.

Everything to do with integrity. Because you have no integrity / pride do you just assume nobody does? lol

It also has to do with being a black artist and knowing you will be called out for BS unlike a privileged white woman. (not for Drake but other big black artists maybe)

Why is nobody buying the digital album? Why would somebody buy a remix instead of streaming it but not buy the digital album instead of streaming it?

Views dropped before streaming was big yet. We are in a much different era now.

You realize that Views did 200k streaming units first week on Apple Music alone right?

Views sold 188K first week streaming-only. That would be Drake’s lowest sales ever had he also not sold 800k physicals. It’s not even a debate to have that streaming was in its infancy when Views dropped. It’s just facts.

no one is mad about the music but about the business practice

getting the same customer to buy the same songs a bunch of times per week to block the actual biggest and most listend track of the week from no 1

    just corny

if it was her first no 1 but after such a career still having to rely to these tricks is weird

The chart tracks sales and consumption. The song and album are selling. People are buying it. What's the problem

that girl just dropped like 10 remixes in a week and coupled them with tour tickets while also make them time limited items to get her 13yo fans to have fomo about how to use their allowance

    i respect hustle and success
but she did way too much this week

You respect the hustle..but it was too much

People view charts for an indication of how hot a song is not who has the best finesse strategy + who's fanbase is more unhinged and will engage in mass buying to skew the charts

For a lil minute now the hot 100 has definitely not been an indication of what's hot. We complain bout that everytime here

On Apple Music alone and it’s still one of the biggest streaming debut weeks ever.

You said that he old sold 800k plus because streaming wasn’t big yet. But the fact that he sold nearly 200k units on just Apple Music proves that’s not true.

    Her Loss Day

Looking like 190 million US streams on spotify. What’s apple music expected to do? It’s usually 2x or 3x?

historically been a 70/30 splits past couple albums

and first day for her loss was 150+ million Us streams with 50 mill coming from spotify (67/33 split there) so its still in line with same 70/30 ratio

that means if its 190 mill US streams on spotify we looking at 550+ million streams overall
