If anything he seems more energized on this and did something left field like KTT been begging on HVNM. I guess im wondering what does hunger mean to you?
i agree that he sounds more hungry here than on scorpion and CLB (HNM is different because I'm mostly talking about his rapping) - but a huge part of drake's appeal was his underdog status. without it he's missing something
that said i'm always looking forward to his new projects, HNM is AOTY and HL is up there
Damn I love the flows more on every listen
The way he came in on the Broke Boys beat switch?
Ah damn, man, you niggas is the worst
Savage snatch you out ya crib, then drop you in a hearse
Baby, please, when we nervous, stop reachin' in your purse
Nigga went and bought a house when he coulda bought a verse
Niggas dumb as f***, imagine if I did that stupid s*** when I was comin' up

Yeah 1da should be ashamed of himself tbh
Hot take but I never felt him like that. Listening back to those 5am synths is rough I thought they removed a sample or something, when I listened to care package I couldn’t believe the beat always sounded like that
Most of him n drakes beats are insane. But the 2 he has on here arent it

He deserves less placements after this tragic performance fr
I'm a fan of Her Loss and to me Honestly Nevermind is his best project since 2015, if not my favorite ever
but Drake is absolutely missing a hunger he used to have, even if he's a better technical rapper. it's just palpable. doesn't have much to do with introspection IMO.
every artist goes through this it's not a Drake thing

People gon come around to HN, some great music on there
But I dont think any rapper will have the same hunger as they had coming up thats just not realistic imo. I guess we agree there.
For me "hunger" its bars, flows, energy & I feel like this album shows its not completely gone you know.

for sure re: this album. i'm liking it a lot
Losses from DLDT gets glossed over as a very introspective joint, what you think of that one @shaleirose
Drake even said at the time that was a preview of what to expect on CLB
Wonder if he has a bunch of joints like that in the tuck
Losses is probably the most introspective he’s gotten in years
But a track like that was much more common on his older material, it stands out now because of how scarce it is from him currently
It’s extremely impressive for a few reasons.
1) billboard changed how streams account for a “physical sale”. The change scaled the numbers back tremendously across the board. Idk what the equivalent would be, but I’m guessing this type of first week pre 2020 would be more like 550-650K.
2) drake doesn’t do physicals (vinyls, cds, etc) so this makes the sales number even more impressive.
3) it shows drake is still very much the leader of the industry because of the consistency of streams.

alriiight I gotta say as a big fan, this is the first album where Drake's persona is kinda making me eye roll a little bit (at least with the lyrics).
And maybe this is the flaw with a rap heavy Drake project, I know you guys all love it but there's only so much he can spit about until he says some stuff that just doesn't hit right or comes off contradictory. This wasn't really a problem I had with DLDT/CLB's raps.
The actual songs in isolation are f***ing good though
