Bruh his flow and cadence is so wavy

Especially when he gets to this part:
ā€œShe still fit that s*** in her gut somehow
The fat musta went in her butt somehow
    I don't even ask her what's up
She sayin' that s*** is natural
Don't care if she makin' it upā€

I fw that flow, hella hard

Small details like this don’t get enough appreciation these days

Drake's discography is so great that even his 10th best album is better than the best project of a lot of other rappers

i wish the sample was a bit louder though. such a cool flip and you can't really hear it over the bass/vocals when its all going. same with spin bout you

spin bout you has the energy of drake's 2013-2014 features and loosies.

reminds me of DNF by p reign or days in the east or tuesday remix or PND recognise

I’m not a big sales person. On a scale from 1-10 and considering Drake’s past sales, how impressive is this?

It’s extremely impressive for a few reasons.

    1) billboard changed how streams account for a ā€œphysical saleā€. The change scaled the numbers back tremendously across the board. Idk what the equivalent would be, but I’m guessing this type of first week pre 2020 would be more like 550-650K.

    2) drake doesn’t do physicals (vinyls, cds, etc) so this makes the sales number even more impressive.

    3) it shows drake is still very much the leader of the industry because of the consistency of streams.

I think 40 did a great job with that mix, one of the songs that stood out to me sonically

The way the sample is kinda distant and understated makes it doper imo

Glad they didn’t have the sample wailing all loud and in the way lol

Is there a reason you wouldn’t count songs like Fear, The Calm, Champagne Poetry, Too Much, The Remorse, The Ride, etc.? I think these are what people would consider his introspective songs but are you looking for something different?

songs like champagne poetry are some of his best rapping/skills wise and i guess are closer to being introspective/deeper then most of his discog but when i say introspective i mean s*** that comments on the culture/current issues/his personal struggles or fears.

kdot does it with songs like fear and mortal man, cole does it with songs like 4yeo and false prophets, erykah badu did it on songs like A:D 2000, and lauryn hill did it on most of her MTV unplugged album (biggest example being I Gotta Find Peace of Mind)

seems like drake doesn't have the ability to think that far outside himself or he pretends to do so for commercial success which makes it hard for me to consider him one of the goats even tho hes one of my most listened to

nearly all the goats in HH so far have been able to both make introspective music and commercial hits

he been making introspective music. he a***yzes his life quite often in his music. it just is very vapid.

vapid/surface level introspection isnt what im talkin about, i ruled that out in my og comment

It's all relative to the person's experience, I don't think Drake's introspective songs are any less impactful than those songs you mentioned

Everyone does their own thing and approach but quantifying one less than the other doesn't make sense

dont think drakes introspective songs are nearly as thought-provoking/interesting as his peers in the goat convo. id bet hes had personal experience and struggles that he could speak on in the same way as those artists did in the songs i mentioned, i just don't know if he has the songwriting ability to make them as interesting.
