Stay woke, Ye is trying to tell us something.
His flow ain't the same too
2013 Ye flowed over house and industrial beats like butter
Then you hear his more recent s*** and he's struggling
Mainly his breath control. Idk why but he sounds out of breath on every track.
Idk what it is dude, I just think he taking more liberties with the pen or some s*** or not taking the feedback people giving him. It is so clearly different from his old s***.

Donda is actually JIK 2 produced by Dre
Dr. Dre Detox listening party
Same thing
they saying its a launch party

But it's Ye so he can change his mind last min before the release
I was listening to TLOP a couple days ago and truly that album is a masterpiece. Not because it's perfect, far from it, but because it alchemizes its flaws into gold. No matter how obnoxious Kanye's content might be on that album at times, he pulls it off with the confidence and swagger he was lacking on ye and JIK to sell it.
"STEP UP IN THIS B**** LIKE
I'M THE ONE YOUR B**** LIKE"
"I JUST COPPED A JET TO FLY OVER PERSONAL DEBT"
"My ex says she gave me the best years of her life
I saw a recent picture of her, I guess she was right
"
All of I Love Kanye and Facts too, really. S*** is just hilarious. On the last couple albums the humor felt forced and unearned, but TLOP is so insane and out of control that it's really the only way he could have gone without coming across as pathetic.
And I guess what sells the album even more is how straight up joyful and SOULFUL the music is. I don't miss the old Kanye on that album because ULB, FSMH, Famous, Waves and High Lights give me that jolt of inspiration I look for in old Kanye music. It's not his most polished work, but the soul and invention is there.
What does separate it a bit though, besides the lack of polish, is how dark and vulnerable it gets, an artifact of what he learned from 808s. That run from FML to Wolves is heartbreaking and insightful. On top of that, you get a little taste of MBDTF in the way he uses his features like instruments in each track to create a great collaborative vibe.
F***ing great album, man. It hasn't been that long either. I think he can give us a fully inspired, very human album with just enough polish to keep it together. That polish and inspiration has been missing, but if he takes the time I think DONDA can be on that level.
Yeah... I agree. I think there are a lot of reasons for that. That aint the style of rap now. Most of it is raw as f***. Like we legit have rappers who rap off beat unironically and s*** (which is cool to some degree).
Not to mention, his delivery as of late is a lot more out of control to emphasize the emotions behind the words. He cut the wordplay and punchlines out of a lot of his raps. Definitely shifted clearly after My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (saw it popping up slowly in WTT, then a lot in Cruel Summer, and very obviously in Yeezus).
I like when Ye raps with a lot of emotion, but he kind of sacrifices the smoothness in a lot of his rhymes.
Speaking of Rhymes, we all know why he really aint rapping like he used to
I first noticed a shift between WTT and Cruel Summer, a small one but a shift nonetheless.
Then he kept the same kind of delivery for Cruel Summer and Yeezus. Hints of the old Ye, with a clear hint of his delivery changing.
Biggest shift imo was Yeezus to Pablo. Pablo was when his delivery and flow started to become sloppier on some songs, but the genius artistry was still there.
From Pablo to Ye to JIK was pretty much the same all around. Good rapping with some sloppy moments here and there. KSG was obviously the one exception where he went back to the Cruel Summer/Yeezus type of rapping.
And then something happened in 2020 where it felt like he forgot how to rap on some of his s***. Some of his verses were straight up unenjoyable to listen to.

apparently he tried freestyling verses in 2020
Ye reminds me of people who are good at writing papers but got too confident at their writing ability that they decided to get lazy with it and still write good papers but it clearly wasn't finished until the night before.
Dude literally be editing his albums the night before releases
so wild to me.
I relistened to TLOP the other day and forgot about all of the changes he made from the leaks to when it finally got put on spotify. Some of the songs have literal different drums, like Feedback. S*** is too f***ing funny to me

Cole was right sadly
Cole was right sadly
I like Cole alot but he will never have the overall impact or greatness that Ye has. And he's nowhere near the producer Ye is.

Ofc
But he was right that Ye is surrounded by yes men and his ego gets the best of him

I don't really care about any of the 2020 stuff. Go2TheMoon is great though, but I wish him and Carti would've done more with it.
But Kanye as an album artist is still very singular and I'm really excited for this next project. Ye and JIK are still strong records, just with notable issues.
But it's Ye so he can change his mind last min before the release
absolutely but i think the listening party is happening for sure. whether it comes out soon is up in the air but i think there is a good chance but as u said, its kanye

Yeah definitely a steady progression. I think he just letting his ego get the best of him with his raps. He knows he can say whatever and no one gonna tell him his s*** kinda sucks now LOL.
Too many yes men in the booth with him. Push need to stop enabling this s*** and set him straight bro
Cole was right sadly
Cole right about a lot of s***. He just has a really bad way of going about saying it which rubs people the wrong way.
KOD is really accurate to a lot of the struggles young dudes have when they first blow. It's just the music kinda sucks so the concept gets lost. He is WAY too on the nose with his messaging.
That is why to me, Kendrick will always be better. Kendrick has great messaging without him literally making it so obvious what the theme is
Thread started off as memes but a lot of good discussion happening in here tbh
