Numbers aren’t law
You didn't feel the presence of Jimmy cooks, Rich Flex, Sticky, Wait for You?
You think those were just smashes because of the Numbers?

Bruh, just let them have it. Drake has no hits this decade. Just concede lmao.
F*** off, alt.
Is that supposed to offend me or something
It’s an account on a website man
Mods lock thread, it was fun but now you know who is gonna be all mad and aggressive in here

They didn’t feel as massive as the songs I named in OP
If we're talking mega-hits, these songs really are more comparable to Carnival (not a mega-hit) than One Dance or God's Plan. These songs have hung around, but mega-hit? Really?
I think this discussion says just as much about the state of the music industry as it does about Drake's current ability to make hits.
The latter I agree with.
I'd say though, that if Rich Flex, and Jimmy Cooks aren't considered mega hits for this era, then idk what we're doing with the term tbh
Because, IMO what a mega hit meant pre 2020 is not the same as what it means now. It's a completely different landscape.
No, Jimmy cooks, Rich Flex, etc. aren't comparable to One Dance or God's plan but I'm not comparing them to that standard. The climate in the industry is completely different.
I've heard Rich Baby Daddy more often, more organically, than pretty much anything else he's put out since 2020
The charts don't point to it being as big as some other songs of his but that s*** is everywhere rn

This I agree with. The numbers won’t say that right now, but Rich Baby Daddy does feel like his biggest song in years. It has that inescapable feeling

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills lol
Rich Flex literally transcended culture and was a real thing across pop culture as a whole. Rich Baby Daddy is a moment. Jimmy Cooks popped off. Wait for You was a grammy award winning song IIRC. My mom loved that record lol
That TO ME was a very clear mega hit for the 2020's. It wasn't One Dance, or Hotline bling, but I'd argue that the industry is completely different now than it was then.
If Drake didn't have a mega hit no one did. Life Is Good, Toosie Slide, Laugh Now Cry Later, Wait for U are all at least 4x platinum with the first being the biggest single of the decade (It came out Jan 2020) and Rich Flex had the biggest sales for a rap song in it's first week since God's Plan. You can't deny the facts as much as you might not like him Drake is still dropping mega hits
This guy also said Drake NEEDS Cole Durk and Wayne on his tours as if he didn’t always have guests.
Gently isn’t a single off the album, if he really was chasing a hit that s*** would have gotten pushed heavy. But since he’s rapping in Spanish it’s “chasing a hit”? Doesn’t add up
I think @SeattleZ12 is mostly projecting
I’m not projecting. Pre FAT D, as we speak and date @ 8 remix would’ve charted well
How
You’re comparing a limited release Travis sneaker to a general release Drake sneaker and wondering why it isn’t sold out
The latter I agree with.

I would rather just not use the term mega-hit at all than adjust the meaning to suit the era
We listen to and distribute music differently these days and it's very, very hard for a song to be totally inescapable across all demographics like it used to be. The feeling can't be there like it was
So no, I don't think it's reasonable to put Jimmy Cooks and One Dance in the same category. But that's not to say Jimmy Cooks wasn't a hit at all, I just wouldn't use the same label to describe both
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills lol

You have to understand that when it comes to debating Drake on here, certain people will always move the goal posts because his success annoys them and even moreso because his fans on here dare to celebrate his success. It's really that simple. Once you get that, everything else will make sense.
Just let them have it lol.

Rich Flex had 450k sales in it's first week alone not even including any other song from Her Loss. No other artist has done that this decade aside from Taylor. To say it wasn't a maga hit is delusional and OP needs to go outside and hear Drake's music for himself since he doesn't believe in statistics

The lack of monoculture does make having a 'mega hit' in the traditional sense virtually impossible.
We shouldn't be comparing any records that come out in this era to previous eras IMO it's like comparing 90's basketball to current basketball
if the standard is One Dance, then sure these aren't mega hits but Rich Flex for example, was clearly massive, and by today's standards is a mega hit unless, as you stated, we do away with the term.

We just gonna pretend those and the hot steppas didn’t go on sale

I tend to try and be objective about this and see it from others point of view but yeah, it's tough lol
I've seen what Rich Baby daddy does in person. I saw what Rich Flex did, what Wait for You did, and that's before we start talking stats.
Like I said, toughhhh crowd if Rich Flex isn't a 'mega hit'

You just throwing anything at the wall to see what sticks bruh.
What's next? The chicken sandwhiches at drakes restaurant are doing low numbers?
We just gonna pretend those and the hot steppas didn’t go on sale
Hot Steps were restocked due to phenomenal demand
You can’t even get the black ones anymore in men’s sizes lol what is your argument here
