What classifies an “old” game to you? Anything from last gen? 360/PS3?

Depends on the game really. Like indie devs will make games that are inspired by old games as a means to get a nostalgia boost IE: Shovel Knight, Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon, Mighty No. 9, etc. But they don't really do all that much to separate it from the game they are inspired by. Or worse, incorporate many old school elements to a game that have aged like complete s*** and were not missed as time has gone by.

There are games coming out now, or are already out, that are basically just new versions of old games because the original devs pretty much abandoned the series or went into an entirely different direction. Games like: Ultra Pro Wrestling, which is very similar to the PS1/PS2 era WWF/WWE games. Fast Racing Neo, which is basically just new F-Zero. Ex-Zodiac which is just a new Star Fox/Star Fox 64. And Freedom Planet, which is like a Genesis/SEGA CD era Sonic The Hedgehog game.

Modern games are the reason why I lost interest in video games. Every time I play a new game, it feels like I played the game before somewhere else. It’s like im caught in a loop

what are some RPGs better than chronotrigger that came out in the last few years

some gameplay mechanics themselves are dated not even graphics, animation, sound but the mechanics themselves are dated. Part of how you can tell they are dated is no one has even tried to implement or update them in modern games in anyway sometimes.

Call of Duty Zombies definitely a poor example though
