One time me and my gf met this homeless guy at a Dollar Store. This was in the winter and it was gonna be freezing cold that night

Me and my gf told the guy to wait outside the dollar store. We went home and got blankets, some jackets, some fresh pairs of socks (heard this is useful for homeless people), other miscellaneous things, and 2 big insulated water bottles full of hot tea

We pulled up with all this gear and gave it to the guy. He teared up, was thanking us, asked us how old we were, and seemed surprised at how young we were (22). He was so thankful

He said he was gonna share the stuff we gave him with some of his friends

Felt really good. Not just to help him materially but to show him that people can be kind and compassionate, and that he’s not alone

well considering we’re all being buttfucked with inflation (that’s only gonna keep raising due to, you know, social collapse), a housing crisis, and government leaders that ain’t doing s***, just know that if you make one little mistake your ass will be on the streets with the homeless you make fun off!!

I've volunteered, donated etc. I give charity, but because I don't feel like owe them a dime I'm wrong? I have no empathy because I give to homeless but hold grown adults accountable to their actions lmao.

I empathize yes. If I have spare money I’ll give. In 2022 I don’t have spare money. I also use intuition and discernment before giving. I don’t give a f*** what someone buys with lose money I give them. It’s more so the safety factor because a lot of “homeless” people do like to setup licks and rob. But I don’t judge addicts and people Pam handling in general.

I don’t blame people for not giving money. I don’t blame people for walking away and ignoring. I just hate how hateful people are when it comes to the homeless. Throwing things at them, beating them, making it impossible for them to be homeless with hurtful laws and putting spikes under bridges. The resources put into hindering homeless could help the homeless.

Shelters aren’t really a viable option either a lot of the time because they are religiously ran on some manipulative s*** (speaking from how our local shelters are ran)

Agree that everyone deserves a home. But can also say there are people who legit prefer being homeless because of mental health, but also because they have more freedom than being tied down to bills. A lot of nomad lifestyles use this logic and air bnb hop while doing seasonal jobs. But also some people just prefer living on the streets because it’s where they feel comfortable

People who refuse to go to shelters usually have better reasons than you think for turning them down. Speaking from a local pov. Our shelters require that you attend church service every evening or you can’t seek shelter that day if you miss. If you have a job or income you have to give them 80% of it until you’ve saved enough for an apartment and to get on your feet. A lot of times that money is mismanaged and regardless of intent nobody should force you to give up your money for “free” shelter.

Also I really hate how “good citizens” act because they bought someone a cold mc chicken or some other nasty bs then complain about the person they helped being “ungrateful” the idea that the poor and homeless as a whole should only have the scraps, expired, and least quality of items and food because they are poor annoys me so f***ing much
