It’s almost like that’s the reason these kinds of casting decisions are done in the first place. It’s a cynical corporation manufacturing discourse that allows them to deflect criticism. All of these remakes are disposable junk anyway. Most of the original films are animation masterpieces and these “live action” interpretations are at most destined to be filler on their streaming service.

Corporations saw how much we used to complain about the lack of original movies and the abundance of reboots and remakes and sequels so they used the casting of people of color in these leading roles as an excuse to make absolute lazy dogshit and have the numbskull audiences eat it up

And the saddest thing is you can’t even complain about this because the puppet ass media and general audience will just call you racist

Listen i rewatched little mermaid last year as a grown man and while the storyline is very toxic and cringe. The visuals and music are top tier. I’m not feeling that magic at all from these clips/trailers. This is like the lion king remake again
