It’s a teaser for the trailer. If you’ve seen the pictures that was leaked then you’ve basically seen this teaser already
no dialogue?
Does anyone in here think this is going to be good?
I haven’t read the book yet, but I have a friend who’s a super fan. based on casting alone he believes this is not going to fully commit to what makes the story great.

I personally have high hopes for this.
Denis not only one of my favorite directors but just finished the book earlier this year and the visuals and casting have been spot on.
Also keep in mind he has split the story of the book into two parts which makes sense imo. Long time gaps occur in the book

I have more fear with the fact that the first half isn't a crazy adventure and more of a slow crawling political thriller with cool powers and world building which may turn people off but his casting choices have been perfect.

You’ll have to forgive me cause I don’t know the story, but what he said was that there’s an antagonist character in dune that in the book was a fat, over-indulgent pig, and in the movie they didn’t cast him as overweight
And because they were afraid to imply that being fat = nihilistic and over-indulgent, they didn’t cast him that way. And that kind of compromise waters down the story.

I understand but I feel like Denis just went with the best actor for that role which is Stellan Skarsgard.

Skarsgård is the bald fatty covered in mud in the teaser, Baron Harkonnen

Prosthetics but yeah I was confused
This convo was weeks ago before the trailer came out. At this point I don’t even know why I’m talking about it

He’s not going to be comically overweight in the movie iirc. But he’s still gonna be fat. I remember seeing a brief interview with the actor who’s playing that character, he said he had to get into a fat suit.
No
Idk anybody here that even knows of Dune, maybe it never sold good here
