Stealth is kinda not working for me. Brigands spot me way too easily. Should I always leave my cargo in some random spot?

The sequel is good if you care about endless dialogue about serial numbers. Kind of joking: but the only thing that is life changing is the capacity to teleport to start new deliveries. But if you want to experience the journey with a BB, BTs that are actually scary, better characters and world building, and a world that actually asks you to use your tools to traverse, then the first one is better.

The QoL improvements are barely improvement compared to the Director’s Cut. And I even prefer its UI compared to Death Stranding 2.
2 has more weapons and stuff, but it builds upon a first game that was about avoiding combat. The animations are awkward, the shooting id awkward, enemies look good but that’s it. Bosses are sponges that slap you. This is why I said it’s better to play MGSV if you want action.

I’ll agree with you on the topic of BTs. They definitely nerfed BTs in DS2 but I welcome it with open arms because I don’t like BT areas much lol

It’s definitely a unique game so hard to say if you’ll like it. do you like metal gear solid? Or cinematic action-adventures like that? If yes, it’s at least worth a try. The first game is free on ps extra.

Action adventures is what I prefer yeah

It can be hard to remain undetected in some of the bigger brigand bases, but it is possible if you have good positioning or some stealthy weapons/silenced pistol/silenced sniper.

Leaving your backpack in some bushes or under a Timefall shelter makes you move around much smoother without the weight of everything in your backpack and alleviates the risk of getting your cargo damaged in a fight. There is however a small risk that the backpack can get stolen if you leave it where a Brigand might see it. Happened to me once and I had to chase him down

A couple of weeks ago I found out that you could play Death Stranding on Xbox, and yesterday I found it, directors cut, on sale and bought it.

Hopefully it will take me long enough too get thru it, so when I’m done, Death Stranding 2 will be available on Xbox:)

just finished the game, clocked like 70 hours in and 5 star'd most of the preppers and cities

I agree with some of the latest comments about how the first one is better at making you actually use your tools, about how also the BTs have been terribly nerfed and do not cause any stress anymore

also on the topic of the scenario: even though I was completely invested in the story, because I had been waiting on the game and loved the first one, I ended up being disappointed. the whole Magellan crew is a great addition, but the rehashing of the beached fights from the first against Cliff, this time with Neil, is pretty lazy writing, even though Neil and Lucy's story in itself is touching. the whole Tomorrow topic is also very easy to see through, as well as Charlie's and the President's... it is weird to see Kojima resort to such obvious tricks tbh, it almost feels intentional but I wouldn't see the point? I don't know it still puzzles me

The Tomorrow thing, Charlie, and the President are all supposed to be obvious, they’re not twists or tricks. If anything, it’s just a misdirect so you don’t think about how ‘off’ Fragile was acting and obviously the real twist is that she died at the beginning of the game

For me, the reason the story is great though, is it didn’t rely as much on twists and more the actual emotional depth of the characters, it made me feel close to Tarman, Rainy, Dollman, etc. to get long sequences that provide context, it made it feel kinda like X-Men, like everyone has a unique power and story.

Also the little bits in between add a lot of color, even if they are small interactions, it just makes it feel more like a team.

The way everyone's gathered together in the bridge for bigger discussions reminds me of Mass Effect and KOTOR, I hope for DS3 we have a similar team.

Yeah this game actually has characters with emotional depth and arcs in a way that Kojima's work hasn't really had since MGS4.
The first one is about how connections defeat isolation and apathy. This second one is more an exploration of what kinds of connections matter and just how powerful those can be - while also criticizing and condemning the kinds of connections that fundamentally hinder us and hold us back.

Kojima usually uses the supplemental lore mechanics in each game to dump exposition and explain plot holes. The cassettes in Peace Walker and MGSV do this, as do the interviews and emails in DS1. But there's nothing like that here. The Corpus doesn't really expand on all that much.

It's kinda cool to see Kojima let things actually be up for interpretation for once, but there are a few nitpicks that I feel a quick Corpus entry would resolve.

I was frustrated with this as well but apparently when ziplines are shared they don’t keep the angle decided by the builder, they’re all straight by default.

    Question about DS1

I love the core gameplay. Its pure zen.

But the amount of straight up bullshit you need to click through to get from mission to mission... I don't know if i can do it. I went into this fascinated by the story but quickly found it really hard to care when its crammed in between your fifth minute long reminder about how a system works... like bro there is just sooo much s*** bugging you and pinging you and talking to you in between missions and it neeeverrrr ends. I just finished chapter 4, does this stop, or at least slow down?

Alternatively, does DS2 improve on this?

I want to love this game but the way it violently yanks you out of the experience with this bombardment of spam... idk

I just wanna traverse these beuaitul landscapes, literally the best looking game i have ever seen, and take in the sights and sounds. But I just know when I finally deliver that package im going to be held hostage while i mash the A button for 5 entire minutes why

It does dw. All the annoying stuff has been streamlined in terms of gameplay. Instead of bombarding you in ds2 with story beats it gives you the option to look at that yourself in the menu as it sums up what you’ve done as you progress

The terminals are also easier to navigate

I actually agree to a certain point with both of you, introducing the Magellan crew added a lot of emotional depth indeed, it created a lot of attachment and I felt that good old void within me when I finished the game, just like when you finish watching a great show or reading a great novel!

However all in all I think the DS franchise is practically done, Kojima hasn't said anything yet about a third game, but I really hope he focuses on Physint and that other game. He is really good when it comes to world building and knows how to build a saga but I feel like this one is done already which isn't necessarily a bad thing

Still haven’t finished yet but I’m guessing the games ending had some finality to it? Would suck to not get at least one more death stranding game

For those who beat it; do you recommend 5-starring everyone before finishing the game or saving some for after the game is complete? Or does it not really matter?

Doesn’t really matter. There is a post-game episode where you can continue making deliveries and do whatever you like even after the main story is done.
