the attitude era, black metal, s*** like that always means so mucj to me but this ep is so airtight it’s up there with them
Interesting, I prefer Backstage Raver right now, but lucre is good. I’m waiting for the project to go on streaming to listen more and see how much I like it. The last song is great though.
My favourite overall era is Hype Williams (Dean & Inga) from 2010-2012. In terms of his solo work, I would say 2013-2014 is his best. Although I love Black Metal 2 (2021), Soul on Fire (2018) and Give me a moment (2023).
I will say his production on Hackney Commercial Waste, Backstage Raver and lucre feels very natural to him, like he’s in a flow state and fully in control of his strengths. His chemistry with Joanne on Backstage Raver is incredible.

agreed about elias solo stuff not being as strong but i really do love this song a lot, one of my favorite singles of last year
wish i liked his project more because i was really looking forward to it after this one, however nothing really sticked with me besides this and soldier song…. might need to give it another spin tho

first thing that really clicked from them though, i’m not too big of a fan of any of their other work so far, mainly for the reasons mentioned itt, it’s just maybe a bit too on the nose for me and as said that certain magic is just impossible to be recreated

i heard this (great btw) and realised some of these bands are just terrified of being called wanky emo revival so they hide behind certain things, no patience no sense of movement
