I know he publishes hit or miss gossip s*** too but those are also marked as just gossip - the problem there is more w ppl who don't read full articles and social media ppl running hearsay as facts.

what is he doing a great job of exactly? Ruimy is a certified hack who just takes information from sites like Reddit and AwardsWorthy and reformats it like it's his own news. in fact he is so notorious for doing this that links to his website were banned from at least one prominent subreddit and he has been banned from AwardsWorthy because he used to steal film festival news from actual insiders and write articles about it without giving proper credit and pretending they were his own scoops.

he also pretends that it's still 2016 and engages in culture war nonsense and unironically cries about "wokeness", especially towards black filmmakers and artists, as well as his associations with weirdos like Sasha Stone and Jeffrey Wells. but hey, if you want to keep defending someone like that, you do you.

what I think he does a great job with is the research and curating new info on new films that might be worth seeing, and I think it's refreshing that it's a mix of his research and personal criticism - I def don't always agree with his takes but it's still valuable to get them. and I respect that he's doing this as a one man operation ngl usually u have a whole team for doing news and writing articles.

I can see the criticism of how he runs things but gotta say I still wouldn't know any site bringing comparable knowledge and effort into news on new films - still curious to hear what you suggest for alternatives.
