David Lynch's long-time producing partner Sabrina Sutherland on Unrecorded Night:
I’ll say this: It was probably the best thing he ever did. It was a culmination of a lot of things. We worked on this for over two years in terms of writing, and we were still writing up until the point he passed away. We were getting ready to go back to Netflix because he had re-envisioned some things about it, and it had morphed into something even better than it was. I hope that one day people will be able to experience it in some way.

here's the full quote of what she said about the project:
"It was, to me, kind of the culmination of his writing. We took a long time collecting everything and putting it together, and the message and everything in it was very special to him. I think it was something pretty cool and unique. It was going to be this massive, epic thing— kind of similar to Twin Peaks in style, in that it would be 20, 25 episodes. It was huge in that respect. It was nothing to do with Twin Peaks, though, so let me just say that. It was a completely different story, but it would have been very interesting. And I don’t know if I should tell you, but… long pause the lead was going to be Toby Jones. It would have been a pretty interesting film."
