After the DLC, you think I should do DS1 or Bloodborne?
Probably only got time for one of them before Elden Ring since I'm usually switching between multiple games a day.
Definitely Bloodborne

Elite taste
Beat Crown of the Sunken King and Crown of the Old Iron King this weekend. Sunken King was pretty mid imo. Graverobber and his buddies were harder than the two actual bosses and the area was kinda boring. It felt kinda gimmicky with all the switches and moving platforms. Plus having the two bosses in one room after the other made the area feel extra small.
Crown of the Old Iron King was definitely better. The area was dope af. Walking across those big ass chains to cross from one area of the foundry to the other and looking out into a sea of just ash and lava, really cool. The inside of the foundry was great too. The verticality was a nice change and none of the rooms felt small or cramped. Then when you put the scorching iron scepter into the slot and the elevators starting going up and down and the whole area opens up, awesome.
Blue Smelter Demon was pretty lame, the path to get to him was harder than the actual fight. Fume Knight was pretty fun and challenging though. Kinda mixed on Sir Alonne. He felt a bit out of place I think. Like 95% of the bosses are these big, slow, heavy hitting characters. He's the complete opposite, he's super agile, long range and with really fast attacks. Still a cool fight but it just felt weird to throw that type of boss at the player when the rest of game is different.
Also the whole collect-a-thon thing with the pieces of the Soul of Nadalia didn't feel like Dark Souls at all. Super out of place imo. Still I enjoyed this DLC way more, that's why I have so much more to say lmao.
In blight town now
Got done with Crown of the Ivory King today, so I'm officially done with DS2 and it's DLC. This one was just okay. I did enjoy the area but I didn't enjoy having to back track through it after the ice was all removed. It's kind of a cheesy way to increase playtime. The Ivory King boss fight was dope, probably the best boss fight out of the 3 DLC's. The other bosses weren't great though. Aava wasn't anything special and neither were Lud and Zallen but I loved the way you had to reach them. Travelling though a blizzard with limited vision was really intense.
Overall I'd rank the DLC's as
1. Old Iron King
2. Ivory King
3. Sunken King
I feel like a lot of the core problems with DS2 are still very prevalent in the DLC's but I guess you can't change it up too much with just DLC.

Horsefuck Valley
I believe parts of the DS2 DLCs were designed to be co-op'd so playing solo can be an overly ganky pain in the ass at times

I actually didn't think it was that bad. I made it through the first time with no problems but I could see how it would be annoying. Yeah, I also read something about the DLC being co-op focused and you could tell cause there was usually two NPC summons available so they obv wanted you to go through areas with other players.

Man's a psychopath who tf likes getting cursed in any souls games especially ds1
Pontiff Sulyvahn kicking my ass rn
And turns out this motherfucker summons a clone halfway thru
I haven’t played much recently so I must be a bit rusty, but this fool barely has an opening and spams 9 attacks in a row
Game’s so much more different from the first 2

Came back to it today, and f***ed his ass up
And then for good measure I killed an invader who kept trying to use cheese attacks
after beating every souls game my ranking goes:
bloodborne>ds3>ds2>ds1 (
)>demons souls
og dark souls is a great game but it’s so overrated
the later installations are just so much more refined to me even w/ their respective flaws
side note: i couldn’t care less abt the lil “interconnected world” gimmick. the way ppl spoke abt it you’d think it was a way bigger deal than it actually ends up being

Facts, i don’t get the praise. I think it’s because DS1 was a lot of peoples first souls game
f***ing morons itt underrating DS1: it is the first in From’s career defining trilogy, and they pretty much got the vision perfect on the first try. everything you see in every From game after it could not exist without Dark Souls existing first. the argument can be made that Demons Souls laid some of the groundwork, but Dark Souls perfected the formula

Dark Souls is a masterpiece
Dark Souls 3 is better though
Demons Souls already did what DS1 did ( except for interconnected world, which is kinda overrated imo ) some things it did even better than ds1. I think the reason ds1 is more popular and considered a masterpiece is because most people missed out on Demon souls when DS1 released
DS3 feels so massive. I don't know how far I am but I am getting back into it after a break and it's just an adventure that keeps delivering.

I dunno, that interconnected world is a pretty significant part of what makes DS1 great imo. I’m liking the combat of DS3 more so far but even then I still wish the world felt more organic. At least the level design on DS3 is really creative though, DS2 was all too straightforward
