Seems like DS2 is the least liked one. Still worth a play thru? Or should I skip to 3 after I finish 1

  • Nov 28, 2021

I decided to try and finish DS1

Even though Sen fortress makes me wanna quit

It’s the only one Miyazaki didn’t direct I was seeing. And people don’t seem too high on it

    It you say so

a lot of DS fans still love it tho, it’s just the most unique one in the trilogy.

tbh these games are so cheap now anyways so trying them doesn't hurt. especially for the amount of content.

definitely play the DLC, it’s the best part of DS2

After the DLC, you think I should do DS1 or Bloodborne?

Probably only got time for one of them before Elden Ring since I'm usually switching between multiple games a day.

i’d go with DS1. imo the best Fromsoft game and an essential play if you enjoy the DS series and want to experience one of the most creative and influential games ever.

Bloodborne is a must play as well, but there’s a purity to DS1 that is unmatched

Dark Souls is the best game ever created

can't have a From game without an area that sucks total f***ing ass. Poison will forever be woat. And they put boss type enemies in there I'm flying

You just dont get them. It‘s alright we all need time but you will realize the importance of these areas one day

Definitely play it just don’t expect the level design to be as good. Really fun game but the others make it look weak by comparison

Beat DS2 today. Overall, I have pretty mixed feelings about it. I liked the variety of areas, graphically the game still looks really good, lots of weapons and armor, the npc's were all interesting in their own ways, the music was great and I loved Majula.

But man there were so many tiny annoyances. Getting through the areas was a huge pain. I don't mind getting ganked but it felt like around every corner and staircase there was somebody waiting for me. Lots of places where they just threw 3-4 big dudes at you for the fun of it. Weapon degradation was f***ing terrible. That orange s*** that shreds your armor. The mages. And the boss fights were pretty lackluster I felt. The only ones I felt were challenging were Ruin Sentinel, Royal Rat Authority, Old Dragonslayer and Pursuer (only the first time though).

Also, not sure if this is my fault or a problem with the games design but pretty frequently I would finish an area and have no idea where to go or what to do. I kept having to pull up the wiki to find new areas and how to get there. I never had that problem with DS3 and it made it feel like I was constantly backtracking and going through the same areas. I was able to find every boss (even the optional ones) on my own in DS3. Looking at the boss list for the base game, I missed 7 in DS2 (technically 8 though since I didn't get the true ending).

It sounds like a lot of negatives but I still did enjoy my time. There were really only a few moments in my 23 hours where I actually felt frustrated.

Haven't done the DLC, but I'm not sure if I'm gonna. I have DS1 to play still and also Bloodborne.

Enemy placement is definitely one of its biggest issues I agree

    Yeah just play it last

Even storywise DS2 goes off the path and does its own thing while DS3 is more of a direct sequel to DS1 and an end to the story

I was having fun with the twin blades but then this ridiculous thing came along.

they really want you to invade get invaded in DS3 to get souls. I'm like 30 hours in and I feel like enemies hardly drop anything. mind you I have lost some but I general I feel like it's taking me longer to upgrade. I don't invade cuz I'm p**** tbh.
but I might have to start to get more souls

Huh? I did plenty of both but it's not necessary at all to stay leveled. Just loot everything and eat your boss souls if you arent gonna buy anything with them. You get a good chunk of souls just killing bosses too.

u dont have to invade, u can also do co-op and help other players out with their bosses

gives u a lot of souls

Currently replaying the souls series in between halo infinite

Just beat Capra demon this took me way too many tries to admit

Also “replaying” is a weird term cause I’ve only ever beaten demons souls remake and ds3
