In store? You'll have to worry about not getting a copy if it sells out before you can get to it. Preorders will probably guarantee you a copy.

Besides the intro i'm pretty sure the only thing life path changes is some dialogue choices

Just play it. Already waited long enough. The game's built for multiple playthroughs and its a free upgrade regardless.
It'll perform fine and be a great experience whatever the system.

Just play it, if it runs terribly or there's s***ty bugs, wait it out. If not things will get spoiled and you don't even know how long it will take. The DLC will be out by then and you can play that on next gen enhancements

Just play it now and replay with the next-gen update, that way you’ll better appreciate the upgrade and it’ll add an extra layer of freshness to the second playthrough.
That’s what I plan on doing.
