Same kind of thing happened with The Dark Knight and Do The Right Thing. The coloring was all wrong for both of those and the 4K/Criterion releases were the ones that fixed it. It's odd, especially if you're used to one, but the director approved ones are usually the way it was presented in the theaters.

Packaging is crazy both the discs and booklet are set up nice

Took peaks at all the films out of curiosity before I sit to watch and wow yeah these improvements are actually pretty great. Chungking Express had the most impressive picture upgrade from what I remembered of the Criterion Channel version s*** looks great

And after seeing how Fallen Angels looks in this new version on a TV I kinda get why he did made the change….. Just wish he kept the OG as a supplement but some of those shots work extremely welll in widescreen and actually compliment Doyle’s side to side shots more than I thought it would. Those screenshots from twitter weren’t doing any justice. Get the frustration tho since so many champion the aesthetic of it but restoration looks great.
