I would definitely definitely recommend some 50s Bergman for getting drunk to over Persona. Smiles Of Summer Night and Seventh Seal are f***ing hilarious... Persona is exquisite but doesn't have a shred of humour to it.

Ivan's Childhood would be nice but if I was really gonna recommend some good drinking foreign films it'd be Viy from '67 and Black Cat White Cat from '98.

i was discussing a documentary about gypsies a few years ago with someone and he kept bringing that film up and said some scenes in the documentary could've been pulled out of that film will have to see

possibly the funniest film ive seen... and just impossibly rich in its mise en scene and warm in its feels

will watch u rec'd me turks fruit and flowers of saint francis before which were great so

also I just saw that this film is one of the many recommended films for teachers to show to middle schoolers and up here in sweden

As a person who's suffered from derealization my whole life, I immediately felt deep emotion watching persona. As far as everything else. The dichotomy between the two main characters who are both putting on a mask, I thought this s*** was genius. Being drunk didn't really effect the experience of watching this weird ass movie, or maybe I wasnt drunk enough😂
