gets better if you rewatch it
I can imagine. For some reason it gets talked about like a good/easy starting point which confuses me. Feel like people seem to talk about it like it's just this straight forward sci-fi, which it is in parts but it clearly isn't altogether.
Definitely glad Solaris wasn't my first Tarkovsky. It's really dense because he's actually doing so many different things at the same time.
And for the current topic: I don't rate 7th Seal that highly for Bergman either tbh.
ill never forget solaris first watch tho because (will sound like a bs story) a handful of us did shrooms for it expecting 2001 epicness and the one dude that didnt really know us as well had a bad trip triggered by the moment Solonitsyn picks up the midget and flails his legs in the air before he creepily hides him back behind the door
we didnt notice at first but a bit later we looked back and he was writhing around on the floor mumbling "wobbly legs" over and over. took us hours of comforting and Nacho Libre to bring him back to sanity.
a given with tark and dudes like him
big tbh
solaris sounds cool but is the least exciting by far
Idk about least "exciting", but it's for sure ranked last in his filmog for me haha

My 10 Berg (I think)
1 Cries and Whispers
2 Persona
3 The Seventh Seal
4 Autumn Sonata
5 Fanny and Alexander
6 Sawdust and Tinsel
7 Through a Glass Darkly
8 Smiles of a Summer Night
9 Hour of the Wolf
10 Scenes From a Marriage

Ah gotcha
The Sacrifice is really cool, but should also be the last Tark to watch obviously, very fitting final film
twlight time sale if anyone is interested.

Yeah watched it immediately lol almost 2 years ago now. Extreme tragedy that Sirk cast that John Gavin goober in the lead instead of Rock for whatever reason I can't remember but it's still top tier

I meant how did that blu release look quality wise? It's already top 3 sirk for me

How’s Tarnished Angels? Love the other three.

Oh yeah meant to say the quality was good enough... Was heavily invested in the story so not paying too much attention to the quality of the Blu on first watch tbh.
Extreme classic
