Yang is top 5 for me OAT but some of the English acting in Mahjong
Yi Yi could be the greatest film of all time tho so who cares
I've spent around $90 recently on them (last month) but I've managed to get all of these (on Blu-Ray):
-The Seventh Seal
-The Great Dictator
-The Red Shoes
-8 1/2
-Godzilla (1954)
-Dr. Strangelove
-All That Jazz
Feel like that's a pretty good haul for that price.
Criterion Channel just added de Oliveira's Porto of My Childhood. Highly recommend people ITT watch it asap. One of his best films and easily top 5 of the 2000s imo

Lmaoooo
If Criterion is fine with adding this same old, low quality, damaged version of The Big Sky on the Channel, then they at least better be working on a damn restoration of it

f***in fuck

First 15 mins or so looks just like that copy i dl'ed a while back, with the 240p opening and scenes afterwards that are cleary taken from damaged prints.
It starts looking a little better after that, but only in comparison to the poor quality s*** in it. I haven't scanned through it all to see if the quality dips in-and-out though.
I've read that the studio made around 20mins of cuts to shorten its runtime when it came out, and some of those cuts were "restored" and included in the film's DVD release. Maybe that's why there's such a leap between print quality. But if that's the case, why still used the damaged DVD version after all this time? Just give it a proper restoration already.

is 240p a hyperbole or is 320x240 the actual resolution?

It's an exaggeration, but not as much as you'd think tbh
Press play on The Big Sky and watch the first 4-5 minutes. The first scenes look like you're watching a Super 8 recording of rough cuts in the editing room lol
