diatonic was a poor argument and i’m not a stan, i just think it’s corny to undermine all the artistic merit of a unique album that blends his avant garde sampling sensibilities with a cast of outstanding studio musicians and a producer/engineer that understands his glam rock sound

so you didn't understand my argument at all and it sounds like you didn't even read what i said, that's interesting. me expressing an opinion on music i don't like is not "undermining" that's insane, again, you sound like a stan. especially because now again you are talking about it like it's a car or a product. "all these professionals are involved, it must be good!" ok, but it isn't good to me, or at least i don't find it that interesting compared to his previous material, and all those people who otherwise might make really good stuff being involved makes no difference, and you're talking past me whereas i just tried to explain my point of view to you, which i shouldn't even have bothered doing because you came out the gate insulting me for an opinion.

    prince fan=must appreciate glam rock

prince is not really considered "glam" by any metric i've ever seen but i probably should've been clearer. i know glam can also refer to stuff like david bowie but i came to understand it as also including "hair metal" type s*** like poison or foreigner, metal not really being accurate so basically "hair rock". basically very conventional rock with the crazy image of s*** like kiss, ie you look at them and you think they make kvlt black metal but instead they make I wanna rock 'n' roll all night. if i didn't use the term with the utmost accuracy that's my bad, but to be very clear that's what im referring to specifically. anyway this continued projection that my anonymous posting on an obscure forum is making some kind of statement instead is strange, and not accurate. i write what i feel on here pretty much

    horns, bass line, solo

yeah sure, those things sound good, they sound well performed, definitely took skill. it's also completely irrelevant to my main point, which is just because it's well-made doesn't mean it's in service to anything all that interesting.

    i don't understand how u can argue...

another point that shows you either did not read or did not understand what i said because that's quite literally not what i said and i explained this in the first paragraph, so if you're gonna continue to reply to me with dumb s*** like this im gonna be forced to block you because i really don't wanna continue with arguing with someone who won't even read the s*** that i type out. maybe you can just accept that people have different tastes and opinions than you and move on?

if 84 prince and revolution isn’t glam then we’re on different planets my friend and i’m not gonna sit here and explain why

not liking HTTM at all is forced, s***s
    raw and ur missing out

i could give a f*** if yves or u od tmw we all just s*** talking on the internet here fam

Yeah he just came off to be really an a****** in the set and totally off

But also he hating NYC, LA & Berlin cities pointing them out specifically that are known to artists to be "difficult" to perform in also tells me he's kinda a baby tbh - compounded with how he acted in the hotel/greenroom

he’s saying those cities are full of “white normies” who won’t appreciate a rebellious artistic project

he got signed to warp through years of doing these intense noise shows, he had a chance to bring that old stuff to an arena and thought he would just get hateful dm’s not boo’d off,

you're right because purple rain is funk rock, synthpop and minneapolis sound, not commonly considered glam rock, so you're in your own world on that one

can't understand the rest of this gibberish ass post. you don't read posts you're replying to let alone your own, so that checks out.

the album that came after that i don't even remember the name was basically them shedding everything that made the project interesting. every song i've heard from them since is just diatonic boring glam rock worship literally just being held up by that same cyber goth avant garde newyork arca ripoff body horror visual aesthetic they got going on. boring music in an interesting package basically whereas once it was both. turns out all you need to do to get people to listen to extremely conventional music is by presenting it as something boundary pushing so they can feel smarter about listening to soft rock with s*** vocals. crazy how they still get the acclaim they get despite this

i think this discussion is actually funny because it shows that u cannot ever truly win as an artist? people are booing his set because it's too experimental for edm fans but here ur complaining about his music being "extremely conventional" in another album

well it makes perfect sense and is a fact of life, actually. it's not about "winning", yves tumor doesn't have to do anything to please me or anyone else, and neither do i. it's my opinion and my individual taste that some people may or may not agree with. you can't please everyone, especially when you build yourself up a certain way then take a hard pivot into something basically entirely different. you're bound to have people who won't be fans of that new stuff. it's not necessarily a bad thing, it just is.

but there is kind of a funny irony in that he neutered his sound to be suitable for arenas and normies for the most part only for those very same people (embodied by swedish house mafia fans) to reject him/his more experimental tendencies anyway lol.

i do agree that sithol is his best and even though i think the newer stuff is the safest i still like it a lot and believe they have some good ideas still. Also, i appreciate the versatility of achieving such a perfect balance of huge mainstream appeal but also having an experimental path? Doesn't seem easy to me at all and haven't seen that many ppl do it so flawlessly apart from radiohead, etc
