There’s been threads dismissing street rap in general and they’re dismissed. And even then y’all leaned on the “why does violent rap lyrics gotta be truth, it can be art” take countless times. Y’all don’t want people to keep the same energy, cause when they do you people tell them to kick rocks. Y’all just wanna hide behind that instead of saying you don’t give a f*** about gays and homophobia.

ive been to a lot of "controlled" areas in north NJ and never really had issues with any of the guys there, but it could just be that im kinda racially ambiguous to a degree. i went to a hs in north NJ as well. i definitely see the segregation stuff but i see it more in district lining then in culture imo...but im not gonna speak for you obv because thats just my personal experience. on the other hand places like SI people are like live security cameras and will just straight up tell you to leave if you wander in to the wrong neighrborhood

Rap has become the biggest genre in the country if not the world despite that, so outside of a few individuals not being able to perform in some venues due to liabilities isnt a real point

Also the think pieces dont matter as they arent for the core of rap but the outsiders who find the genre enjoyable but impenetrable.

People have been writing thinkpieces about rappers being homophobic and misogynistic for decades now and they havent changed s*** 🤷🏿‍♂️

Rappers rap about oppressing other niggas, f***ing their women, and a lot of other ego-driven s***. It’s a lot of harmful ideologies instilled in people in low-income neighborhoods, and it’s evident by the rap you hear. Is it wrong for Dababy to say some homophobic s***? Yep. Just like it’s wrong for him to talk about killing others, express his misogynistic views, and other s***. It’s all “wrong”. If you’re going to call out one wrong thing out, call everything out. Call out the culture that creates these types of people

Come on man that's like saying "They won't watch conservative christian anti-gay propaganda but they'll watch Scarface"

And most of these rappers aren't out here doing violent s***, and the ones that are aren't doing it to the level they rap about. And the ones that actually do the f***ed up s*** they rap about, like Tay-K, end up getting called out by a lot of people. For the most part the violence is just for entertainment, no different than a TV show or movie. But the homophobia is real.
