idk what u or others talk bout when u use the word justify
no1 needs to justify the albums existence, it exists that's just the be all end all of it no justification needed this isn't like a "you need to justify why you're eating a whole cheesecake on a diet" kinda thing
as for ppl thinking these reviews are dumb, it's mainly the ones that have silly headlines like this where the reviewers pretend they can see the future and know the foregone conclusion of how this unfinished album will be when it is finished. and even then i don't think people are saying that these reviews Shouldn't exist, they're just saying that they're stupid cus they overly rely on clickbait gimmicks like pretending the reviewer is raven baxter
Unfortunately it exists in the state it’s in. But it shouldn’t.
I think when it comes to stuff he’s releasing now, it’s critiqued harder than normal because of the antics he’s done outside of music. I don’t think an album like Pablo would have been received well if he put on the hat in 2016 tbh. Nowadays in order to get universal praise, he has to drop an MBDTF quality album and he’s definitely not doing that. Donda 1 is the best work he’s put out in years (not counting KSG)

Idk dude on some different s*** and especially in these times image is important with your music
We say separate the artists and the art but it’s very important in rap
When has Frank dropped like Ye?
Endless? Maybe? I don't know I haven't heard that since it came out. but the whole way it was tied to a performance art thing and treated not like a proper album but a lead up to a proper album feels a bit similar to some of these events
Ye really been doing this unfinished s*** to death. I love Ye but he’s truly one of the only musical acts that can get away with releasing something unfinished to the fans. I can’t imagine the backlash if any other rapper did that. Imagine if Drake released CLB and he was mumbling on Champagne Poetry
It is what it is my man, no one can stay on top forever. It's easy to forget kanye has been in the game for damn near 20 years with how culturally relevant he has managed to stay.
I don’t think anyone forgetting that

Nah fam. Endless regardless of how it was released, was very much a finished body of work, and a great one too. There was a lot of thought put into the release of Endless and Blonde so he could get out of his contract with Def Jam.
yeah and tbh Donda did get a better reception from fans, on streaming and a lot of hip hop podcasts like Budden. It's really the types of reviewers who write in papers and for music magazines that cover all genres that s***ted on Donda.
But I think in the end with music people don't remember the s***. Donda has weak songs like Remote Control but all people will remember is the songs they added when it first came out. It's the same with his whole career. In the end people will remember Yeezy and the music. That's why the whole 'ruining the legacy' conversation feels very in the moment. All the stupid little details like Pete Davidson will get forgotten about.
With this situation it’s moreso the Kim stuff that will be remembered in an age where things like this don’t fly well and with Kanye being Kanye people are doubling down more than anything.
Honestly as a fan, I’m sick of the edgelord way he’s releasing music. I sit back and watch the antics in hopes that the music will live up so when he just pump fakes stuff it’s annoying to deal with and pushes me away personally. Years ago I would have defended this being unfinshed and would have been mad at the reviews but now it’s like Idgaf cause clearly he doesn’t respect me as a consumer lol

1000% agree. You wouldn’t hear the end of it if it was anyone else.

Son makes it so hard lol like he easily had the shine to come back from 2018 with Donda 1 hard but then the Manson Dababy s*** and constant album delays man like bro really don’t give a f*** anymore lol
Imagine he dropped Donda after LP 2
When has Frank dropped like Ye?
Never, but the iceman freestyle he dropped a couple months ago that's only on blonded radio is similar
But I was moreso talking about he's not meticulous with his drops like that. Post 2016 proves that

I feel like he definitely was with his 2017/2018 singles and was aware that dropping the albums and dipping out for another 5+ years with no content wasn’t a good idea.
The 2019 singles were probably leading up to a new album that got botched thanks to COVID. So I don’t entirely place the blame on Frank.

I guess it's too early to tell though. Because if this album drops on streaming at the end of April and is as good as Donda, then I guess it is kind of a thought out release? Like how Donda got better with each listening party and was a cool new way to release music. If it stays how it is then it will just be an unfinished album of mediocre demos.
I think the Ye release is way more of a stain on Kanye's discography than what he's doing now. Maybe that's just because it's linked in my brain to the TMZ thing

TMZ hoe’d that nigga

Kanye should have been smart enough to not go on, given how long he's been in the industry. I feel like he knew what he was doing
TMZ misconstrued his comments for their own gain s*** crazy
Did we expect anything else

Ye as an album is atleast finished, and if you dislike that album, you atleast got Daytona and KSG during that period as well which are both great LPs.

Ye was a f***ing idiot for going and trying to use that platform to express his views when they were always just going to contort whatever he spoke.
2013 Ye had the right idea on how to treat scummy publications.
This man really released an album with unfinished demos, fully censored, and wanting us to pay 200 dollars for it from an unknown streaming platform
The f***ing nerve of him
