We really do need to expand our genomic surveillance, and it's been substandard this entire pandemic.

Personally, I'm taking the variants seriously. Last Sunday alone, I double masked twice. If I'm ever in a remotely enclosed space with other people, which is rare these days, I make sure to.

Yeah I feel like we gonna be getting f***ed up by the new strains by end of March

My mom just mailed me a bunch of medical masks, and I hate wasting them, so I'm going to blow through those and then I can look into n-95s. I had a few a while ago and they were pretty easy to put on.

Our Health Minister was asked to resign by the President for giving the vaccine to a journalist friend and family members. Vaccines are supposed to go to essential workers here

Lady at a restaurant was fired for not taking the vaccine. I wonder if new variant trains become more prevalent will more companies decide to take this approach.

I saw that, if we’re talking about the same lady from NY she refused to take it because she was trying to have a baby and the effects of the vaccine on pregnant women is unknown. That’s pretty wild their employer did that though damn

What about the South African variant? Is that stronger or weaker than the UK one?

You'd think a guy with his own private jet would have more than 101 followers 🤔

I love how they use the 20-29 death rate for the whole thing and pass it off as fact for all ages.

US should be near 50% one dose by March 20th

Alaska will probably be near 70% 2 dose by then

we'll see how their cases do

What, how is that possible? Are you basing that on an expectation that the speed in which doses are given triples between now and then?

Because in order to get 50% of the US to have had one dose that would require 300 million + doses to be administered , and we’re currently only at 61 mil. So you’re saying that you expect 240 mil+ doses in a month? That sounds like a fantasy

It pretty much will though. There's a huge increase in both Pfizer and Moderna coming in the next couple weeks, and the Johnson & Johnson will start shipping out millions of doses in two weeks. Idk about 50 percent but there will be a lot of progress

Oh ok, I didn’t know that. That’s amazing

You think the number of facilities and workers will be enough to ramp up the numbers on that front tho?
