If something like this is to happen, how does a virus mutate in a context like this? Fx does it happen simultaneous worldwide somehow or is it strictly based in Italian until it spreads further?
Spread of strains across continents is a slow process, but we do know from examination of the viral genome that New York experienced something more similar to Italy's strain than Wuhan's. It is thought that we primarily got our cases from Europe, not China, though that probably isn't true for the west coast, as Chinese tourism is significant here.
What they describe in this interview is nothing unique to the novel coronavirus; it's a process of survival that all viruses undergo. So if there is a weakening happening, some geographic areas may see the results before others, but it will happen everywhere eventually. That's why declines in severe cases are being observed all over the world and not just in one geographic location.
It's possible that this survival mechanism (essentially the shedding of genetic code) could be triggered more quickly in response to unfavorable climates (like Arizona), but we don't know that for sure yet.
where is this? and is this a restaurant?
Not a restaurant. And it's in Simi Valley, California.
No one responded to me last week when I asked this
Why is there such a sudden hate for Bill Gates? Seen a town hall on CNN with him on it and he seemed like a good dude tryna help the world
Seen some thots on IG say f*** Bill Gates
Am I missing something?

Italian interview discussing we've been observing for the past couple weeks w/r/t the virus possibly weakening, I'll provide a translation for some of it:
https://www.corriere.it/salute/malattie_infettive/20_maggio_06/sars-cov-2-sta-davvero-perdendo-potenza-ecco-cosa-sappiamo-oggi-00402a12-8f71-11ea-bb7f-d3d655d2211a.shtml
Is Sars-CoV-2 becoming less aggressive? In recent days the opinions of several experts seem to be going in this direction. "We are observing that the virus is losing potency - said Massimo Ciccozzi, head of the Medical Statistics and Molecular Epidemiology Unit of the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome during a hearing in the Senate -. It evolves, but loses contagiousness and, probably, lethality ». Matteo Bassetti, director of infectious diseases at the Policlinico San Martino in Genoa and member of the task force of the Liguria Region confirms: "In March this virus was a tsunami, now it has become a wave. Perhaps it is because it has already hit the most fragile subjects, making a "natural selection", or perhaps it has weakened. It is an injection of confidence for phase 2, but it will take 2-3 weeks to judge whether the Italians have performed well ". Prudent also Francesco Le Foche, head of Immuno-infectious disease at the Day hospital of the Policlinico Umberto I in Rome: «Today we see less important syndromes from the clinical point of view. This could be due to a reduction in virus virulence. But progress must not suggest a "free den all" ".
What tools do we have to help us determine if Sars-CoV-2 has become less aggressive? We ask Massimo Clementi, director of the Laboratory of Microbiology and Virology at the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan and professor at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University.
"The first evaluation is linked to the clinical expression of the infection, which is now milder. During the dramatic phase, about 80 people arrived at San Raffaele a day, most of whom needed hospitalization in intensive care. Things have changed markedly for about two weeks and, as we see, intensive care is gradually being released. The infection no longer flows into the very serious phase, the so-called "cytokine storm": we see it in the hospital, even if for now it is only an empirical observation. In general, patients in need of hospitalization are falling sharply, the epidemic is still there but from a clinical point of view it is "emptying".
How can you prove that the virus' power has diminished?
"We need scientific evidence of a mutation that leads him to adapt to the guest, that is, to man. A new virus is always very aggressive in the early stages, then learns to live with its "victim". It is an opportunistic attitude that allows him to survive. If a virus kills the host (like the Ebola virus) it does not, in turn, have a chance to replicate itself. In Italy, a network has been set up between virology laboratories in many hospitals, including San Raffaele and Sacco in Milan, those in Bergamo, Brescia, Florence, Padua, Rome, Naples, Bari. The goal is to work together for monitoring constant of virus sequences, on sample subjects. The final study will tell us how Sars-CoV-2 has moved from one area to another, selecting a variant rather than another. We expect this new coronavirus to gradually become harmless, like its "cousins", responsible for the cold. "
There's more in the link, focusing primarily on effects of weather and achieving herd immunity.
If this is the case, would normal life be back sooner than expected?
Georgia announced that it has the lowest number of COVID-19 patients it's seen in over a month.
When is that reopening going to start showing up significantly in the data? I think it's been two weeks for them.
State pretty much open, a good bit of restaurants down the street from me are open for dine in, barbershops and salons all up too. I went to the store yesterday, it’s literally likes it’s not even a pandemic anymore
New York way down where is it bad at now that keeping the daily death totals so high in us

in the fall probably

Nah, maybe during summer a little bit because the weather is essential for it. Warm weather makes the virus less aggressive but also there you shouldn't underestimate it, especially not in very dense countries and cities.
Experts are thinking that there will always be smaller waves in summer and that a real second wave won't follow until fall, when people and countries still following the rules and their restrictions but there can also be a second wave in summer.
Small explanation at the end:
Summer: virus is weaker but still there
Fall: virus is stronger again and spreads even faster
By what mechanism would the virus come back stronger in the fall?
It's fair to say that COVID-19 colliding with the peak of a flu season would be a huge challenge for hospitals, but that doesn't mean the coronavirus itself will be any more aggressive by then.
We need an efficient, widely accessible treatment for COVID-19 by September to ease the burden of hospitals. That's the only way to prevent a second wave from surpassing the first.
So is it safe to assume that this year is basically done and we are going to be quarantined till next year?

for some, if state's reopen then people just gotta accept the fact they might die, or family members also
hipsters lol
Nah, lol. It's a conservative town outside of LA. Ronald Reagan was buried there.

If you mean big events like sports or concerts, yeah in that case this year (and probably next year in sections) is basically done.
The quarantine won't last all year long, if people following the rules and small restrictions. We will def have ups and downs during this time.

I’m talking about getting a job (especially out of state) or just being able to meet people

I’m ready to die at this point
Yo i never heard someone calling it
The PLANDEMIC
Thas hilarious
We ugly mfs really got exposed when they closed down barber shops, clothing stores, and gyms. Those three places were the only things keeping us f***able.
