this was a solid lil game man. only gripes were the length (hella short) and the story being confusing 8/10
Love short games. I just started with this. Got telekinesis now, and am just past the hotline and motel stuff
Playing thru all the Alan wake s*** in order. 1 and American nightmare blew me the f*** away. On control rn, s*** is kino as f*** as well. But yo.......THE ALAN WAKE DLC??????
I'm not even done and this s*** has me BESIDE MYSELF to play 2
You know, I initially got the Alan Wake + Control Ultimate Edition pack on Steam because it's dirt cheap rn, and I had to refund cus the Alan wake gameplay is so ass lmao. Bought Control on its own now.

definitely worth playing
definitely worth playing
How'd you deal with health depletion? Idk what's up with Jesse, but she's not durable in this lol
Playing through dlc now
Base game was great!! Love the TP influence
After this i finally played Aw2 (only recently got a ps5) and holy s*** the TP influence is even stronger with that one

Theres a reason they put sliders in the settings

Tbh just do it if it makes the experience better for you. Me personally i play games for the cool worlds, to be immersed etc so i personally didn’t have an issue with it to use it myself. The combat is fun and worth it to master, but there’s a LOT of it because of all the backtracking on this confusing ass map so after a while i just said f*** it
#mostreasonableFromsoftstan?
Lol

Where you at in the game. If its possible to describe

been a hot minute since I played. I remember dying a ton tho and using more of the telekinesis powers to keep me from dying as much
Nice to see this thread bumped, which reminds me:
Firebreak flopped so bad
I wonder what they should’ve done to ensure it was a success..
Perhaps make it 3rd-person and closer in tone to Control?
I believe there was room for a solid PVE game in the current gaming landscape
At least we have Borderlands 4 now

Still early on. I just had my first boss fight, got the launch telekinesis, got the shatter gun mod. Now I need to find the Maintenance Sector and Idk where to go lol
Edit: nvm I went to the elevator lol
Bro like I hate how confusing this whole s*** is. I'm tryna fix the coolant pumps, and I've cleared the pipeworks from the dirty gunk. Now what

Tbh maybe wait a bit with the sliders then, the first boss was by far the biggest difficulty spike for me
Game gets easier once you get all your special powers and skill trees going

Best advice i can give you is use the fast travel when you need to switch between floors, its not worth running through the whole building neglecting the fast travel
And use the in game signs, they are a lot more accurate than the map itself

Forcing multiplayer into a single player franchise was always more likely to flop than not. I assumed it was probably pushed from the top down to chase trends

Sales of Remedy’s games tend to plateau since they’re all single-player so I guess they needed a constant revenue stream from a live-service title perhaps and so they thought Firebreak was it

I was looking forward to it and the game was just boring. That’s pretty much it. An FPS wasn’t the way to go in this universe

The change in tone/humor is what did it for me. On top of the game feeling like it was made in a game jam

Right they already had a strong foundation with Control so they could’ve just built on that; make it play like Control but with no powers since that’s Jesse’s thing, and instead have a bunch of fun or slick gadgets to make up for the lack of powers.
I played FBC from the tech test and I was shocked at how bland it was.. "This is from THE Remedy?!"
The whole game clearly needed to be rebooted from top to bottom.
And one point I feel has to be said is that a 3rd-person view is PERFECT for live service since we can actually see our character’s cosmetics at all times.
Normally I don’t give a s*** about how my character looks in a game, but when they let us change Jesse’s outfit in Control, I felt some sense of joy over such a trivial thing cus the alternate outfits looked really sick.

Finished. Only left with DLCs (Foundation and the Alan Wake DLC but I never played the first one)
The gameplay started off coo, then great, then got repetitive. The sound design was pretty good all round, and I do like the cutscene style and overall atmosphere. Didn't care much for the story, but I'm not too mad at the experience overall. I got this on Steam for a little less than $2.
Wish we got more levels like the Ashtray Maze though. That was crack.

Gotta play Alan Wake II, watch a rundown of the first story and you're good to go. AWE DLC for Control Is worth it too because it was the official moment in game that the Remedy Connected Universe was established
But yeah def AW2. If you loved the Ashtray Maze, then AW2 will blow your mind lol
