Gonna challenge myself a little more this year and talk to more people. I got way too comfortable at community college and rarely spoke, f***ed around and ended up with no friends lol. Just gotta put myself out there more, now that I’m at an actual Uni

same situation. just put yourself out there and strike up a convo. you’ll notice the same faces and it will become easier. attend as many events as you can cause that’s the best way to meet people
it’s def worth a shot. you may end up liking code
for me math isn’t my strong suit and when i got to the intro coding classes like python, c++, and c, i just knew it wasn’t for me. the web design and data a***yst (SQL) courses were pretty fun tho
but information tech was more my speed. it’s a broad field and you can choose to focus on a part you’re interested in. cybersecurity and networking are the 2 major areas and troubleshooting / tech support is the basic level.
i chose to focus on the networking side of things but am also looking to get into cloud computing as well
compsci is seen as the “better” field and you’ll make a lot of money if you’re good at it, but some IT jobs pay very well if you get the right certifications.
also in college, both fields will somewhat overlap in the beginning so if you ever wanna switch it’s not like you’re wasting time
im getting information technology for my major
pretty cool and I love working with tech
like i be wanting to get friends or SO but I can't approach anyone, because the only situations i see are public (student union, walking around campus, etc.) and its seen as damn near harassment to approach people in public to try to meet them
getting good at socializing kinda confuses me sometimes because i don't want to creep anyone out or give the wrong impression
i aint got no friends and im like a wk and a half in
same as i said earlier bro i’ve heard of so many people who ended up with no friends at uni
i’m not the most social person but you really gotta put yourself out there. i’ve met so many people randomly this first week. once you throw yourself out there people will attract to you
sorry if this sounds sloppy i’m kinda drunk rn
an
d and. yeah information tech is cfire

how do I put myself out there? like its not too hard to get contact info in class, but how do I find the situation where I can meet someone I want to meet a lot

for me i feel like first week was the best cause i was able to ask people for directions and strike up a convo off that as we’re walking to places
in class it’s been kinda hard but just ask people there majors and about campus life, night life, clubs etc. always try to get socials and let them know if they have any plans say your down to go and to hit u up
but by far after school campus event ar e the best ilve off campus but i try to go towards the end of the week as much as i can
like yesterday there was a fetty wap concert and i went spontaneously causs i met people on campus who i randomly spoke to that were headed in the same direction as me. just spoke to them and asked what they were up to and they were super chill.
i didn’t get into the event cause i had this big ass bookbag and security wouldn’t let me in
but i made sure to get there socials, next time they see me on campus they’ll prolly walk up to me and say wasup. ar least that’s how it’s been for this first week
i aint got no friends and im like a wk and a half in
