S*** is deadass clockwork
“Discography is the most important metric for an artist!!!”
“Okay, here’s some artists that had arguably just as good of a discog, if not stronger than MJ”
“Aura!!! He was an icon!!”
I’m just gonna go to bed man
TAKe
And this is what I’m talking about lmao @Elric
You deadass can’t bring that nigga up without a psychotic break taking place
learned long ago not to bother debating a fervent MJ fan
Ngl he's cooking in here
A lot of y'all try to detract from Wayne because he doesn't have a MBDTF or a TPAB in his discography and yet he's arguably more influential and impactful than both respective artists that do have it lol
It seems like discographies are weighed heavy depending on who the artist is
Wayne’s impact is undeniable but that doesn’t take away from looking at his discography objectively and keeping it real, he got some lukewarm albums. And Wayne fans know that because of how high regarded they hold his mixtape catalogue regard.
He went on a run at an interesting time in hip hop when mixtapes can define an artists and had the uncanny ability to completely co-opt a song just by taking ya beat/song and rappin over it. Acknowledging he might’ve fell victim to quantity over quality isn’t saying he’s not a GOAT.
The discography s*** is a farce because as soon as anyone mentions how Michael Jackson really only had a three hot album run, people bring up impact and numbers
Bowie, Stevie, and hell even Zappa to an extent have way more consistent album material and it’s essentially sacrilege to even argue for them against MJ. That’s fine but it’d be nice if the standards were consistent
“Michael Jackson really only had a three hot album run, people bring up impact and numbers” opinion disregarded
Wayne also had a stretch where he was just rapping to rhyme and putting out some ask bars. That’s not taking away his prime where he was an beast on the mic or even the last few years where he’s shown he still got it
Cuz Wayne has been f***ing ass cheeks since 2012
With wayne and Eminem both making horrible music for the past decade, they’ve ruined their legacy however, Eminem is still pushing crazy numbers of this day . Even Snoop Dogg had an insane burnout and now it’s just doing low quality features and bad numbers
I think 50 Cent is the only person to bow out of the game propely and build on legacy
Jay z & kanye the only ppl only ppl to stay quality into their 50s and im giving jay a pass since he aint dropped in 10 years.
So really ye still the goat

Bob Dylan and Neil Young got the deepest and widest discographies in popular music
reached the highest heights, most embarrassing lows, had the widest influence, stayed prolific, never stopped touring and had incredible live albums, never looked back, had some of their strongest material 50+ years after their first classic stuff etc

Hes still captivating . Especially considering hes 50 and still tapped in with youth
Everything he does is news
Nobody gives about what 50 and wayne do.

Jay was in his 40s when his last album dropped an Kanye is still there
Tribe and Beasties were in their mid 40s on their last albums
Nas was just turning 50 when his last album came out
Malice just dropped a heater at 52 he gets the new geezer record
im the biggest post 8 Mile Eminem hater and I still dont think all those garbage albums ruined his legacy. Wayne neither.
Push ethered Wayne and Drake with Exodus 23:1 and Adidon and managed to outsell Wayne. Push won the battles and the war.
