Oh nevermind I see you mean in general
Yeah. Look, I'm always here for rappers doing numbers because it makes hip-hop look good and the representation is needed. It's great that we have 2 rap albums this week doing over 100k+ after several months of no rap albums doing that so I'm happy for Clipse and Travis.
I just find it interesting how now Clipse's success is being used to s*** on Wayne like they've ever been in competition to begin with. Clipse had to do dozens of interviews and plan a methodical rollout across several months to hit these numbers. They also had the 16-year hiatus return working for them. Now, none of this would have mattered if the album wasn't legitimately good but I'm just saying people need to stop flip-flopping on when numbers are something to be celebrated and when they're something to be ignored because they don't matter.
Not really.
I thought numbers didn't matter?
They don’t matter in the context of which music/album is better. Even if this album sold 10 copies it’s cohesively a better project than C6.
Two things can be true at once. Yes, if WDIM pulled bigger streams it would have debuted at #1, but the point about radio weighing too much still comes into play because even if debuted at #1, it would have crashed down in week 2 because high streams are sustainable for ANYONE right now and songs with a lot of radio audience impressions get to remain stable despite their streams being low.
Niggas who spend their adulthood ona music forum calling Clipse fans “nerds” because they like one artists over either
Same people that were being annoying and asking who’s even excited for Clipse in 2025 once the Kendrick verse rumors hit
It’s been said a billion times and it’ll be said a billion more, these parasocial weirdos do NOT like rap
It was niggas on here using Wayne’s album in comparison when the Clipse were projected to sell last than C6 as a reason why LGSEO flopped. Now niggas is upset the convo is opposite? Lol

honestly I dont know all the metrics/angles or care about numbers at all, im just here to celebrate Clipse doin well.
especially after all tracks from bloated albums started counting toward skewed album sales or whatever and then people started pitting those sales against legacy acts where people actually had to get off their ass and go to the music store and spend actual money on each album.

amazing album, deserved
If this album did 30k first week, the same people in here s***ting on Wayne's numbers would come up with every excuse as to why Clipse's numbers were low.
I think you make a fair point.
But the caveat I will add is it’s legitimately pretty crazy they did outsell Wayne given where the Clipse hover around historically and where Wayne hovers around historically.
I don’t think any of this changes Wayne’s legacy or anything like that. Wayne is the bigger artist by miles. I just think Clipse busted their ass making and promoting this album. As a Wayne fan I wish he did feel more urgency with C6. Wayne just kinda dropped his album without a care for it both in the creating it and releasing it.

Good for you.

I agree with you 100%. I've said it a bunch of times on here that ultimately, what sells an album is good music. Regardless of how the album is released. Rihanna's Anti had a botched release but that didn't stop its success because it's a great album. We have albums from several artists over the years that dropped to little fanfare but eventually became blockbuster albums because people slowly but surely discovered the great music on them. That's how it happens.
Carter 5 sold well in its first week off the goodwill of Carter 4 and previous Carter albums but Carter 6 was always gonna need to have great songs to do well and it didn't. It's by far one of the worst Wayne albums ever and we're in a different time now. NOBODY is gonna support an album with music people don't think is good enough for them to keep going back to.
Yall aint learned to stop biting @2words bait in 2025 yet?
