I think these are the highest first week numbers weāve seen since the new Billboard rules took effect last fall, so Drake is setting a precedent for artists as big as him.
Itās time to adjust expectations for first week sales btw. S*** is just different now. Selling a certain amount right now isnāt the same as doing it a few years ago.

Itās crazy to see drake sell so much higher than 600 k to the point it feels like that this is a disappointment, the streaming area is wild when it comes to sells
Glad he still on top of things
People can still sell merch like crazy, just needs to be shipped the week of the album dropping
bundle scott and the bndle still somehow gonna cheat?

feel like a lot of people don't get this. they compare scorpion numbers to clb. but in reality clb numbers are much more impressive especially given it didn't have a god's plan

Here are some numbers to back up ur point.
In 2012, the average sales for the #1 album on the weekly Billboard 200 is 230,462 and in 2021 the average #1 is 138,649 (before CLB). That's a 40% decline. So that means 600k in 2021 (4.33x the average) is about 997k in 2012.
It would be interesting to see what Adele could do currently. she has always been primarily pure sales in her career
he did it with no singles from the album

She's never dropped in the "streaming era" so it makes it even more intriguing.
But I think her fans are still the buying type.
Even w/ an expected decline I think she could do close to a mil. She will probably do decent streaming numbers tho.

Not a disappointment at all, this is probably his biggest album

I didnāt mean like these were bad numbers or anything
I just find it crazy how times are changing
Like i remember when selling 500 for drake was bad before streaming took off
Now thatās the goal

I think streaming numbers are down for a variety of reasons even as weāre starting to climb out the pandemic.
For this to have done this much after almost a year delay and less than a week of promo is crazy to me.

Never dropped in the streaming era?? Damn thatās actually crazy to think about.
can someone explain how people said scary hours 2 āwent platinum in a weekā but a 21 track album didnt

I don't know why people started saying that.
I think SH2 was streamed a # equivalent to 90K first week. And if it was long enough to be an EP it would have been #1. But people started saying it sold 900K, which is just literally impossible.

Sold 900k + in singles in a week
Not albums

itās crazy that if heās doing 90k with 3 tracks, then 604k with 21 tracks is almost the same ratio
