And i'm literally just talking about the choreo of the fights lol
Yeah man, this movie failed to create any sense of emotional high for me
Very bad script imo
Best part was like that highway car chase scene
still on rotation. hits so many high notes. r pat was subtle but effective. protag definitely worked for me
The opera scene
Clemence poesy exposition dump
Don't try to understand it, just feel it
Reverse bungie jump

Kitchen fight

Gold bars falling out of plane

Sator reverse interrogation
If we dont stop this all living things will die, including my son

The reverse fights had me out of my seat like the kawhi game 7 shot
Its not even about how "amazing" the fight is, its in the context its placed within the story, thats everything imo.
Take for example, the tension and build up in TDK when Joker is looking for Harvey at the fundraiser
"A little fight in you, I like that..."
"Then you're gonna LOVE ME"
The music, the story, the buildup
BOOM
Instant release when Batman punches the Joker and begins this fight sequence
The camera angle, spinning around Batman creates this feeling of chaos and puts the Batman in this very heroic and powerful position
Now back to Tenet
I dont remember anything about that fight other than the fact that he had dinner with the wife, got some information he needed, then he beat some random "thugs" with kitchen utensils
So f***ing pointless to the overall movie, the plot, everything lmao
Garbage movie, garbage script
a good fight scene is a good fight scene lol
emotional buildups are nice and all but that’s not what makes them work at the end of the day
for all that context and buildup that TDK fight still falls absolutely flat for me because it’s just not very well directed; the choreography stinks and Nolan uses a bunch of quick cuts to try and hide that and it really doesn’t work at all
there’s no way it’s better than something like this which doesn’t really have much more context other than just some dudes fighting in a bathroom

I think it’s kind of limiting to think everything that happens in a movie needs a “point” or some sort of big emotional context, it’s ok for movies to just have fun with themselves sometimes lol
yeah that Tenet fight doesn’t have much story relevance but who cares? It’s still Nolan’s best directed hand to hand action scene by a mile and it was a lot of fun to watch
i consider myself a nolan fan, but i have no trouble saying this movie is super mid.
breathtaking action scenes and incredibly creative concept, but the way nolan treated the audience in this was infuriating. he never held back on exposition and clichés, but jesus, this was too blatant to ignore here.
super convoluted dialogue, damsel in distress again, pacing issues. 6/10.

100%
It’s crazy how opinions differ. I’m a die hard Nolan fan and this is my favorite movie by him.
TDKR is FIRE. I just saw it a couple days ago again. Not up to TDK level, but a solid 8.5/10.
Tdkr is better than TDK , I’ll die on that hill lol

Tenet has no emotional depth.
Sound mixing was bad in theaters, might be fixed now on digital releases
Very cheesy/corny/cliche dialogue sprinkled throughout
Not really a spy movie at all, although technically this isn’t a bad thing but apparently it was supposed to be his take on spy film
Other than that tho it’s pretty good but those are big things
Tenet has no emotional depth.

For me this is the end of a beautiful friendship
But for me it's the beginning

Only thing I’ll agree on is perhaps the sound mixing, but I didn’t have any problems at all when viewing in imax.

Goes from day to night randomly, random ass cuts, terrible fight sequences.

yeah TDKR is easily Nolan’s worst movie by a mile lol
I don’t count Following cause that’s just a straight up student film
Critic and Audience reviews all say TDKR is a better film than Tenet
Most people would agree with this take
