NY has been on full lockdown for many months though, so just by people not being outside or in public areas, that severely helps in reducing cases

No I’m in Chicago. I know now you guys have opened up in a lot of areas but yall definitely were on lockdown for longer than most of the country

Yeah, our phases were different. Things got weird but we played it smart because we saw what happened to Cali and all them who opened up too early

Oh yeah no doubt. Y’all played it smarter than most of the country. We were on lockdown longer than most and we had a pretty nice decrease in cases for a while but now that things are open, we’re seeing a recent surge

Shiiiiiiiit, im still hoping some theaters in less infected areas open here. I’ve driven to Indiana once for Dunkirk, but going all the way to NY a whole other thing
yeah TDKR has a number of ridiculous story moments and a lot of ass pulls and conveniences and Bane as a villain is utterly ruined at the end
But it is still kinda impossible to not fall in love with how impeccably shot it is. The fact they built like a real flying Bat vehicle for TDKR and use it in these huge scaled battles is amazing. And I still largely enjoy a number of elements in it (Alfred and Bruce's relationship here is beautiful, Catwoman is well written and used, Bane is still menacing for a good portion of the movie and the opening scene is incredible, it also makes TDK better when it clearly does show that it isn't siding with the fascist strategies Batman and Gordon go along with to stop the Joker in that film)
But yeah, I do agree with the criticism of it in that the spectacle definitely really hurt the story and you could tell Nolan just wanted to show these crazy things and he wasn't really that concerned with piecing it all together in a clear way.
But I think with Inception, Interstellar and Dunkirk, these are all massive films that either used spectacle around this poetic editing form to convey emotion (Dunkirk and Inception to a degree), or clearly showcased some of the best character work and emotional value Nolan has ever had in a film (Interstellar).
While Memento is fascinatingly written, I've always found it to be quite overrated and pretty lacking in the areas outside the screenplay.
TDKR is just as good as TKD, overall
TKD 3rd act is better than TKDR 3rd act, but, the way that the entire movie is set up, up until the start of 3rd act, is better than TKD.
Everything that Bane does is also more "realistic" or at least believable whereas with joker, it's like he's just an all powerful being with no explanation into how he's pulling this all off. Like how did he rig those bombs on the ferries? How did he get that judge killed in the car or poison the drink at that guy's office? I mean, we just go along with it but it's not like Joker is established to have a bunch of connections. With Bane, he has a back story that makes sense, an army that makes sense (league of shadows people + poor people in Gotham) and essentially steals everything Bruce has and turns it against him / Gotham (the tanks, the bomb). Which.. Again, stealing makes sense lol and we already know why / how Bruce has all those things.
Joker just is already a mastermind somehow, someway, to where he robs a bank. I get that bane essentially does this too at the beginning but when you find out more about him later on it becomes more believable that he could pull that off, whereas with joker we never get insight into how or why he'd be able to pull that off (no training showed, no leadership skills showed, nothing showed besides him bribing and manipulating which, imo, isn't a realistic enough foundation for everything he pulls off)
