Ride please enjoy the ride please enjoy the riiiiidddeeee
This is basically the opposite of the last album, where was a few hits and a lot of misses, and this is a few misses with a lot of hits.
Took some time to listen to the album a few times before giving my thoughts. The album basically feels like the true successor to Coloring Book, albeit slightly more depressing at times.
I’ll talk about the good stuff first. Some of his greatest writing ever is on a few of these songs. His bag is when he’s introspective over soulful boom bap beats. No More Old Men, The Negro Problem, Back To The Go, The Highs and The Lows, Space & Time , Link Me In The Future, Letters, Pretty and Speed Of Love are all excellent songs.
But since this is a Chance The Rapper, he just can’t help not putting a couple songs on here that range from mid to ass. Song like Drapetomania, Gun In Your Purse and especially Tree are the weakest moments on the album. Feel like moments where Chance is still reaching for a “hit”.
Overall though, I think the album is way better than The Big Day. That album a solid 2/10 and this one is a 7-8/10. Chance definitely bounced back artistically with this one. Now if he could just drop again sooner than 6 years, that would be awesome.
i played gun in your purse for like 10 hours on loop yesterday
i get that its not as poetic and lyrically rich as the other songs but man its kinda hypnotic
i get what you mean though, they are fun songs that i want to believe break up and emotionally heavy album
not as high as this album when I was the first day I listened, think I just really wanted to enjoy a chance album finally. Still a few good songs, but the album as a whole feels very bloated and Chance's singing just doesn't sound good on a lot of this.
what about this feels bloated
100 Pages for Chance, this good?
Best Chancellor song

I'm not falling for the Ride propaganda...Chance sounds f***in awful on that.
Got love for you dawg, but

It's funny cause this is exactly what I said the moment I heard him attempting to sing.

Tbh, I rather hear Chance sing than to hear Tyler.
And I love T

I'd rather hear neither attempting to sing.

!https://youtu.be/N7hB1I_elys?feature=sharedMan this was one of those songs where he played it live and then it didn’t come out forever and the hype was so high for the song because it sounded so great, but then the official release kind of fell flat

I'm loving this album and haven't checked the online response till now
so glad to see people fw it...CHANO BACK
Y’all love acid rap so much because that’s when y’all hit puberty
It’s time to let it go
relistened to Acid Rap last week thinking it was just nostalgia but nah that album is genuinely f***in great. Chance is rapping at an elite level at 19 years old and the beat selection is still so good.
