    what’s the point of the thread if the first thing you admit is you don’t buy physical media anymore? how you say it’s a lost art in the era of multiple CD variants?

    Here’s a CD that just dropped 2 weeks ago, the design is that far off from the one in OP or something? it comes with 2 posters as well and the booklet just like the CDs back then. maybe we all just need to let go of the past and start thinking about idk, today or something lol

    think the lost art part is when it wasn't so rare that it's seen as a "variant" and just a norm.

    When it wasn't something so rare that when you wanna get it now it's "not available"

  • Been saying this for a while, albums were actual productions and products back then. Those high quality photoshoots, music videos and just the cd itself even, just made an album feel like a complete idea.

    I’m just confused cause most major artists never stopped releasing CDs cause of streaming i can go to just about every musician I listen to who debuted in streaming era who was at one point or still is signed and purchase their old or current CDs for their new project m

    like Vince just dropped an indie album and CDs were readily available and email marketed, which is what a lot of artists still do if you sign up on their website mailing lists. I’m just confused, thread just reads like a problem that don’t exist

    I guess people want to go back to when you could walk into Best Buy and see a bunch of copies MBDTF sitting in the CD aisle, nicely packaged in plastic. Or NWTS/Take Care sitting in the front of Wal-Mart. I don't think we're ever getting that back but artist are dropping physicals, just not in a readily available manner like yesteryear.

    Yep, made Hip Hop/cool s*** actually feel apart of the zeitgeist/pop culture. Now when someone releases physicals, it's usually just enough for their fanbase.

    Computer/cars don’t have cd drives anymore. That would mean the consumer actually owns sometbing
