Some artists have a lot of hit songs

Take Kanye or Jay-Z, they have 50+ hit songs probably

If I liked all their hit songs, would I be a fan?

I know your over exaggerating your point but no I wouldn’t consider that a fan. Because your example is who I was with Kanye west wen I was in high school. I knew just his hits. But I never considered myself a fan of him. I just loved hearing his hit songs on the radio. I never went beyond that. I called myself Kanye west fan wen I listened to each album. Well most of them and really started diving into his legacy and impact with music

You are 100% on point, and it's wild how NOT alot of people even notice this. It's like people are fighting BRAND wars and MATERIALISM wars now instead of embracing whatever differences there is. It's just kind of ridiculous. Consumerism f***ed up EVERYTHING. Lets HOPE it doesn't get worse though.

My girlfriend listens to the radio. She doesn’t read music blogs or try to find obscure indie artists or anything. She listens to whatever plays on the radio and when one of her favorite artists releases a new album, she’ll listen to that album.

She’s a “casual” music listener. But she’s still a music fan.
