They had me willing to vote for her but these last few weeks have really dissuaded me, as of rn I’m voting 3rd party
It’s so f***ing asinine that the Democratic Party as a whole is shifting right in their rhetoric LESS THAN A MONTH before elections.
The people who vote for them DO NOT WANT to reach across the aisle yet they’re spending more time trying to appeal to Republicans than trying to appeal to the left that is at least somewhat partially ideologically aligned with them (pro abortion, being able to vote every 2 years, etc.)
When it comes to electoral strategy they are fumbling

Again, I would argue that it’s a complete waste of her time trying to court far leftists that were on the fence about her. The vast majority of “Democratic” voters don’t care about this stuff and will vote for her regardless (just like the vast majority of Trump voters will vote for him no matter what he says).
It’s the same reason why I argued going with Walz over Shapiro to “appease” the Online Left was dumb back in the summer. Shapiro gives you a better shot in the most critical swing state and doesn’t hurt you among the groups of actual voters that vote consistently and matter — Walz “helps” you among the Online Left for a week and then they find something to nitpick with him, so he was pointless.
All my posts in here regarding this topic are strategy-based btw not my ideological views. I think there’s a huge amount of people on every single possible side (MAGA, neoliberal, neocon, progressive, etc) that conflate their own personal ideological views with a***yzing political strategy, and have trouble looking at things through a truly objective lens (in very large part due to living in a social media bubble/echo chamber of their own political preferences).
(This is not meant to be specific shots at you @mjpplus , I always appreciate your posts — just kind of went off on a tangent)

You know whats a dumb strategy? Trying to appease republicans that aren't going to vote for her lmfao

I mean, I’d just disagree with that. I think there are a lot of swing voters (in the purest sense of the term, as in have voted for BOTH GOP and Dem presidents multiple times over the course of their lives) that live in the suburbs of the rust belt
Trying to appear “bi-partisan” to voters that have quite literally voted that way before makes perfect sense to me
And what's crazy is, no one on this "online left" you speak of has really even been criticizing Walz. The fact of the matter is they have walked back whatever winning strategy they were going with a couple months back and now are trying to do the whole "president for everyone!" "i will have a republican in my cabinet!" type s*** that lost them the election in 2016.
At some point you have to realize this whole idea of "strategy" doesn't really exist. They are not trying to ever appease the "online left" lol. Why? Because they do not believe in progressive policies that that group wants. It's no wonder that group doesn't vote. Also we both know that a simple google search shows that young (pretty much synonymous with "online left") voted at higher rates than usual in 2018 midterms and the 2020 election.

"Swing voters" are not switching from trump to kamala because she put a republican in her cabinet lol.

She doesn’t need them (meaning Trump20 voters)
She needs to convince the Trump16-Biden20 suburban white voters in Georgia and Philly and Milwaukee etc suburbs to continue to vote for her and that she’s not some crazy black woman leftist from San Francisco as Trumps campaign is trying to portray her to them as

how are you not constantly embarrassed by the s*** you type
I've never seen someone so blatantly view other people in such a weirdo antisocial fashion, its actually insane
hope harris loses just so this dork will cry about it in here and I can clown him for my own satisfaction
Jill Stein name holds weight
How dare jill stein want to end war
they truly deserve to lose

and that means adopting proto conservative policies, policies that maintain the status quo and adversely affect minorities and other marginalized groups Democrats sat on a spreadsheet and said these demographics are statically irrelevant enough to not effect our votes or pocket books
this is precisely what it means when democrats “turn to the right” and how the process happens and why the democrat party adopts conservative policy and rhetoric more and more each election
The fact you typed this out is appalling. Literal sad s***.
When Democrats adopt Conservatives scare tactics over “securing the border” like some total war game and play into helping “build the wall” or whatever bullshit trump wants people to believe its okay for a lot of immigrants they don’t vote anyways am I right?
Atleast Stacy in Fairfax Virginia feels comfortable enough voting Blue this election without thinking those gross immigrants are gonna get treated too badly. No cages on my Rachel Maddow!

right, it is truly disgusting and dehumanizing the way this user uses people of color as literal political pawns

I disagree on the first point — I’ve seen tons of people online hating on Walz and/or not caring about him since August. I see no reason to view him as being a better pick than Shapiro at this point.
You do make a good point about voter turnout among young being higher in 2020 — turnout was at an all time high and up among virtually every demographic group in 2020 though, so I’m not sure what the percentage increase of the youth was compared to other demographic groups. I’d be curious to see that. It’s an interesting point to consider though for sure.

You said a lot of things in your 2 posts here, but it seems like a jumbled mess of personal emotions.
Again, as I said in my first post this morning, you are literally playing into the exact type of poster I was describing — letting your own political views muddle your ability to form objective views on strategy. That was the conversation I was trying to have here. If you don’t want to have a logic based objective conversation, ok, have a nice day.
I liked @Synopsis point I just replied to because he brought up objective election facts that allowed me to consider things differently — it was not just his own opinions

Synopsis would agree with everything I said, nothing he says even goes against it

A) idk what snowboy said cause I’ve had him blocked for months
(don’t know why you deleted snowboys name from your post lol)
B) i don’t care whether synopsis agrees with your personal views or not. That’s not the conversation I care about having. And you keep not understanding that because you’re so wrapped up in your emotions you don’t understand how to have an objective conversation about strategy based on facts not your own personal policy preferences

Me saying the democrats only want to appeal to a margin of voters = democrats not having a strategy for progressive voters
you don’t know what you are talking about bro
It’s amazing how liberals will argue how Kamala has to be a conservative or whatever because it’s “policy” or “electoral strategy” but apparently saying that just makes Democrats more conservative is “emotionally charged”

When you say appeal to “a margin of voters” are you referring to the “undecided” swing voters from the suburbs that Biden won in 2020 and Trump won in 2016?
If you are, I’d 100% argue that it is very blatantly a better strategy to court them than it is than to try courting progressives. It literally won them the election in 2020.
I just have a hard time believing any of this is some grand strategy lol. They will always appeal to the right and "swing voters" because that is who they are. They don't need to do it as "strategy" because that is where their political inclinations land in the first place.

Brother you just don’t get it
And this is the last reply because I’m not sure if you ever will — for some reason you think I’m trying to be some Woo Woo Kamala partisan person pumping her up when (as I’ve said like 20 times now) I’m trying to have an objective conversation about strategy (which you clearly don’t want to have).
Yes, I get it that you personally don’t like her conservative approach (not that it matters one bit, but I hate it too on a personal level). But on a strategic level this is just flat out appealing to the people she needs to win over in the electoral college map.

I’d argue that prior to Trump, that’s what the GOP did too — each party (prior to Trump) has always tried to go the opposite direction in a General Election to appear more “moderate”
I think Kamala is leaning into it a bit harder than normal because A) she’s a black woman from San Francisco B) she had policies that appeared very leftist to mainstream voters in the 2020 primary C) on immigration specifically she was supposed to be in charge of that for the Biden administration, cacs viewed immigration as being out of control, and now she needs to go harder on it
