And idk what that Florida Puerto Rico post is even about. You’re presuming that I said all Latinos share the same lived experience and should vote the same? The simple fact is even if you want to disregard the polls, trump made huge gains among Latinos in 2020. That is a fact

Just last post you acknowledged that more Latinos are voting for trump but in this post it’s propaganda 😭. You are such an unserious poster.

I didn't say that so you either aren't getting what I'm saying or are arguing in poor faith. I'm saying most latinos simply don't care about this election (as they shouldn't) and that the ones who do have a class based motivation for doing so, nobody fooled them into voting for the GOP. I asked a direct question by the way, do you have an answer?

nobody is disputing this fact. I made a direct comment on what you said about this relating to "propaganda", since that was your explanation for these events. can you maybe focus on what I'm saying if you insist on engaging with my comments?

Propaganda and class concerns go hand in hand. I’m not even sure what you’re arguing? Class concerns motivate people to vote? Ok? Voters are not informed on issues so what are they voting based on?

He did “gain” but it wasn’t even significant enough to matter

Women and minority votes lost it for him in 2020

Thank you but that’s not even the basis of this argument. The discussion was whether the propaganda around Kamala being too far left/communist had any tangible effect on voters. I just used Latinos as an obvious one

why would you assume they're not informed on issues? again you retreat into this concept of people as sheep without real thoughts. what would actually compel a land-owning florida cuban to vote for trump given their class anxiety as naturalized "citizens" against a supposed hoarde of "illegal immigrants"? what would compel puerto rican independistas or "illegal" farm workers in arizona to do the opposite? just think about these things longer than 2 seconds and they make sense and can be explained rationally.

    It doesn’t

They are fighting over margins for both parties which means appealing policy wise to the most stable base of American capital

Which is just going to be appealing to the white working class by not appearing to radical and draping conservo sting policies in blue paint

It has everything to do I just jumped in a weird spot, but snow boy is right

Yall are saying Kamala has to appear more centrist is legit dogshit pollster type reasoning

You don’t work for the DNC or a polling company, but I get yall sincerely believe Kamala is the lesser evil to Trump so we are just going to fundamentally disagree altogether

I don’t think she “has to” I think that’s the strategy they have chosen to go with to appeal to the voting block you’re talking about. To act like she is just throwing all this moderate bs out there just because is nonsense.

so your point is she has to appeal to the centrists, but doing what she's done with saying she will put Rs in her cabinet, is not needed, or is something she'd do regardless of being labeled communist?

Both parties have grown conservatives over time, this isn’t news. We can start with Clinton and Third Way Democrats

I think it doesn’t really matter because like multiple people tell yall. The Democrats adopt conservative policies anyways, if you look at the policies from Bush to Obama to Trump to Biden they have largely stayed congruent with no meaningful restructuring

Even specially Biden has maintained increased policies, increased border security, and every other metric that actually f***ing matters the same

You guys keep falling for the same trick and pony and containing yourself to the realm of well if this person has D next to his name, it’s not bad! When the are literally just slightly modifying or keeping existing policies from before

    i get all that

the question at hand is more so if there is any meaningful % of voters that have the false perception that Kamala is a communist.

and if there is a meaningful percentage, what should Kamala do to show them that is not the case

Florida Cubans have historically voted republican this is not a trump phenomenon. The fact u bring this up almost supports my communism point more than yours but I digress. Also regarding illegal immigration, 2020 exit polls had that as the 5th most important issue among Cubans and pretty much right in line with the rest of America

  • Oct 8, 2024

I’m sure the concern is higher this year but we can’t discuss those pesky polls

Yeah ni s***, Americans live the most anti-communist place in the world and get fed propaganda about it from birth basically
    You ain’t saying anything surprising,

Again, how America frames all these issues us important

Yes when you essentially have both parties and especially one party making illegal immigration’s seem like some mass of global south people flooding in because of abstract factors that aren’t results of us imperialism

nobody said it was trump phenomenon and everyone knows cuban expats are strongly against "illegal immigrants". im asking for an explanation of why this happens. you keep ducking the actual attempt at a discussion and its becoming tedious.

    Young D

I’ve said this many times before and I’ll say it again because yall don’t get it:

She absolutely has to go out of her way to appear aggressively centrist because the perception of her is that she is a radical leftist (in large part because she is black, female, and from San Francisco), which middle aged cacs in the Rust Belt swing states don’t want (sorry but young Very Online progressives in big cities are not how you win elections because of the electoral college).

The whole reason Trump has called her “Comrade Kamala” is because focus groups have shown that is one of the negative connections with her — that she’s an out of touch elite Leftist from the Coast.

If you want to complain about this campaign, complain that the Electoral College is absolute bullshit. Don’t hate the player, hate the game.

Also she is just aggressively centrist???

Like your whole argument rests entirely within the sphere of what the capitalist adhere to, down to the framework in which you’re even trying to argue how issues are presented to the voter

that is why communists don’t care, it’s not denying reality but simply “following the polls” or whatever is how you keep getting the same bourgeois presidents man

You just asked me why naturalized Cubans would vote for trump given their aversion to illegal immigrants and I told you it was because it wasn’t even a top 3 issue for them. I don’t understand how that isn’t an answer
