All that being said yeah this style is getting kind of played, I’d love it if synth basses got more popular

    s*** like this, it's f***ing garbage

Yup I see what you’re saying. This beat is terrible. Doesn’t really remind me of a Pi’erre beat though. There’s usually a lot more going on.

The thing I hate more about is that people wont admit that it is just an easy cheap way to pump out low quality instrumentals. It truly takes no skill to do.

lol idk I feel like the beats people were making 3 years ago weren't much harder to pump out 10 of in a day

rap musics is usually mad simple

not saying producing these types of beats are easier either just that there simple and it takes a certain type of ear to know what will sound good when there isn't much there

  • Jun 10, 2020

    We gotta stop this

Let this gen (year 2020) have it’s sound

    These 808s dont even hit

Exactly, like there's not even a kick to them anymore and the snares they use are GOD AWFUL. like have no mid range to them.

Pierre is one of the most overrated producers in rap. I don't care if I get hate for this, but man literally has done nothing impressive IMO.

    This Pierre beat tho
You’re not wrong about that song in op tho, s*** is awful.

  • I agree OP. Trap beats have become too formulatic in this genre, the only one's i've seen innovating it are the underground artists. everything just sounds the same to me at this point with the same sounding patterns, 808s, etc.

It sucks cause it ruined so many beats with great melody loops or samples

Who cares if it takes no talent. Go make a come up off it then.

If you “knew how this stuff works” you wouldn’t have mentioned production & music theory. Frequency content is on the engineering side of things. I literally explained why you were wrong.

producers are tuning & adjusting the hertz & pitch of their bass & project template everyday b

i could keep going, these guys all have distinct different styles. im not saying trap producers are lazy, but alot of them dont even do anything to these beats besides just toss the same old drums and 808s over a few notes or a sample they didnt even bother to chop up.

I can name trap producers with distinct styles
    Metro
    Southside
    Wheezy
    Pierre
    Jetson
    ICYTWAT
list goes on but those are some modern producers that have a distinct style

blah blah blah uh huh yeah sure

I'm literally in ableton right now. I'll happily make a beat that you think is "dope" in 5 minutes because it uses what I was talking about

I didn't know you were a producer lol.

All they do is just take a 4 bar sample, speed it up or slow it down, and just toss 808s over it now.
super lazy way of production that's gonna age terribly. @DAVIDP

not the biggest fan but the R.I.P beat

  • im not even talking about boom bap, im talking about something that's new.
all we have now is: distorted bass 808'sas a melody, basically no sort of instruments, and the same 3 hi hats noises, and two light tapping snares.
it just sounds bad. music from the last 3 years has aged terribly because of it. @DAVIDP

Most of the dudes that i mentioned except Metro and Southside make all their own melodies. Wheezy does use loops a lot but he makes his own melodies a lot too. Watch wheezy's cookups on youtube where he makes beats from scratch

op really said "808s (usually frequency of like 120-240Hz)"

Honestly if you make your own melodies or you can chop samples really well i consider you talented. Most producer nowadays are talented but they are in the studio with a rapper 24/7 which is why they use premade loops nowadays. Trust me i don't think Thug would wait for wheezy all day to make a beat from scratch.
