it reminds me of those chicken sandwiches kfc came out where the bread was just more chicken instead of bread. Like most peoples favorite part was the 808s like most people like chicken more than bread

808s at that frequency wouldn’t be audible on some sound systems

You can blame Pierre and Ronny J for that 🤷🏽‍♂️

Distorted Zay type 808s are annoying, I agree

What? yes they are. Once you reach below 50Hz is when it becomes harder to hear on low quality sound systems.

Pierre is one of the most overrated producers in rap. I don't care if I get hate for this, but man literally has done nothing impressive IMO.

    how is it high pitch?
    just sounds distorted

First of you seem to have no grasp of how frequency content works. They still got everything below 50. They’re just distorted so you hear more overtones. And some hits are at a higher register, which means the center frequency has shifted, not the entire spectrum of the sound.

Second go make your ideal song if it bothers you so much

Third this style is pretty lit to dance to

Fourth originally a lot of hip hop was jus drumbreaks & sometimes bass without much melody

Conclusion: You have neither a clue about the subject nor sufficient rhythm to enjoy this style.

They aren't really even distorted, their just higher pitched. You haven't heard a real distorted 808. It sounds like S***

I always download the newest popular drum kits and so many of the 808s have kicks built into the start of the 808s now lol, I mean that use to happen sometimes but its so common now

yeah its wild looking at mustard & trap that was popping last decade which was already dumb simple and then listening to this stuff which is even simpler

I'm a big fan of the percussion being used on these tik tok songs, I love melody in the percussion but at the same time yeah the lack of any real melody (instruments or chords) and the annoying super busy 808 turns me off

It's f***ing garbage and takes no talent or skill and shut up with the "BACK IN THE DAY IT WAS BLAH BLAH BLAH"

Producers have so much equipment and software to make groundbreaking music but instead they resort to making garbage formulaic patterns over and over that they can pump out in 5 minutes.

And, yes I do know about how this stuff works. I've gotten into production and I know some basic music theory.

The thing I hate more about is that people wont admit that it is just an easy cheap way to pump out low quality instrumentals. It truly takes no skill to do.

In my experience frequencies around 100hz are borderline inaudible on laptop speakers unless you crank them all the way up
The 808s you like hit in the range you said the distorted ones hit, Ronny j style 808s get their crunch/grit from distortion that makes the midrange (250 to like 1.5k) pop

Who cares if it takes no talent. Go make a come up off it then.

If you “knew how this stuff works” you wouldn’t have mentioned production & music theory. Frequency content is on the engineering side of things. I literally explained why you were wrong.

blah blah blah uh huh yeah sure

I'm literally in ableton right now. I'll happily make a beat that you think is "dope" in 5 minutes because it uses what I was talking about
