Four seasons is an all-timer in any other era but there’s just not that many options to feel this strongly about in today’s game
We don’t deserve this one
2 things: I get why he cut the hair & Raphael Saadiq is a gift to the world
Wrong Faces one of my favorite songs of the year, I had to replay it back a couple times before gettin into the album. After the music video, it's clear that song is about himself and that's made this s*** 10x harder.
overall writing from Brent has improved so much 10000x on this album, long are we past the "fuck the world I'm a walking erection" days
Only demerit on this album
Other Side legit one of the worst songs on the year. I understand that MJ has a lot. of. influence over R&B entirely and for good reason but there's a reason some vocalists know their lane.
Brent just don't got the chops for that, and that's ok. there was times on this song where it legit felt hard on the ears dude.
overall though
I'm not mad at the new sound, I feel like Four Seasons (definitely the next single) is the Sonder sound on steroids. Holy s*** that song is amazing. It's like...2 song of the year candidates on this album for me.
The maturity is refreshing and unlike "Show You Off" the writing on here feels very much more genuine and not surface level. Definitely one of those albums you can tell had to be made after living some more life. He said in an interview he didn't start making real money til FTW and then began balling tf out which plays a part in why Wasteland and Bigger than Life content/lyrics sound the way they do.
"conspiracy" below: I really really do wanna know if this was the planned pivot before them texts leaked cause I do think that, even though they didn't show him do anything illegal, it made lotta people look at him a bit funny. And we all talk about how "he was just living his raps" but deniability has always been a thing. Yeah, rap or sing about how toxic you are but don't be "we can pass your lil s\*\*\* around for years" toxic or now your female audience is gonna look at you funny.
Well said bro. Once I saw you rockin with it, I knew it had to be heat. Honestly this is my favorite work by him since the Sonder days ngl. He needed a producer like Raphael to carry him cause the other prod he was on sounded boring to me. He’s a mid vocalist but this mursick here sounds so good.
other side lol who does he think he is
s*** sounds like MJ produced by Calvin Harris
There's some real nice production on this album. Faiyaz has no feeling in his voice though. I can't get past how little soul he has.
amazing project as per usual
hopefully some interviews come out, so we get some insight behind the album delay/process
