think the deal was rumored around 50 mil for a 4 fight deal and wilders run after turning it down was Ortiz 2, Fury 2 & Fury 3. wonder if he made anything close to that on that run
It doesn't really matter. Fury was the guy at the time. AJ was busy getting knocked out by Andy Ruiz.

Fury and Wilder made good names for themselves fighting each other and avoiding other fights to convince the casuals they were the best out I’ll give them that.
But I also think you’re underestimating how big AJ was in the UK. People hated fury in the uk until the wilder fights and was no big draw until them.

Brother it's late era heavyweight. There are like 5 heavyweights from the period worth talking about. At best.
I'm not talking about popularity. AJ should've beat Ruiz. Then you could maybe make this argument? Usyk makes it irrelevant anyway.

5 heavyweights worth talking about but still fury and wilder had some of the weakest possible defensives in a weak era. speaks volumes no? there were plenty of solid names to fight and they didn't. and when they did they started losing.
also AJ did go on to beat ruiz

I agree his best days are over. After that usyk 2 meltdown i think his hunger was destroyed.
Easy fights leading up to the dubois fight was worrying and then we he got in with dubois you could see the old man getting in there with a young lion.
The Jake Paul performance is awful and hopefully thats not a sign of where AJ is at currently. It really isnt the way to set him up for a fury fight but I wont be out here acting like he's a bum tho. Legacy is certfied but if he's fighting like this in the future? give it up.
i hear u n alot of your points r prob correct but im just pissed off we didnt get those blockbuster fights with aj name in them we only got aj vs klitch as an all timer for me he'll never be in same league as ali lewis etc(even tho lewis was quite boring to watch for me) because the blockbuster fights like aj vs wilder/fury/usyk win we never got so hell be remembered as a good fighter but not the GOAT of his era mans was out here doing lucozade deals n walking out to afro beats we needed roadman joshua for longer slapping peoples head off n walking out to skrapz none of this monologue youtuber bull i hope he comes back n delivers as he did bring heavyweight boxing back on a mainstream level but he been fumblin the legacy to me
need that itauma vs aj fight asap

of that era before usyk came through and cleaned up. some names that come to mind are - Povetkin, Takam, ruiz, parker (before wilder was washed), whyte (fury did fight him but for wilder, a madatory wilder spent his entire run ducking). Hell, even a pulev win would be a stand out on these guys record lol. also worth noting these are all fighters who AJ himself actually fought.
Not the best era for the divison of all time but these names s*** on the fighters that were actually that were fighting at this time.
Tom Schwarz? Bermane Stiverne TWICE? come on now lol. cherry pickers at there finest. Looking back at those old frank warren interviews as he try to gas up these half baked fighters as possible contenders is truly laughable.

Fury's post Wilder choices were awful honestly. I was rooting for him quite hard up to and after Wilder but Shwarz, Wallin, Whyte, Chisora, Ngannou
Straight
Basically lost to Ngannou then got beat twice by Usyk..
by that point
AJ vs Fury now will be similar to Khan/Brook
Cool it finally happened but unless something spectacular goes down it's too late + will be forgotten

I'm not sure what we're talking about anymore. Are we ranking AJ compared to Wilder and Fury? Usyk beating 2 of the 3 makes the discussion kind of pointless anymore.
The run AJ went on from Klitschko to Povetkin, I was also saying he was taking tougher fights than the other two. Then Fury and Wilder began their trilogy and AJ got knocked out by Ruiz. That's just what happened.

they defo missed the time for the right opportunity to do it. Crazy all AJ had to do was duck his mandatory (Usyk) and we would probably had this fight 3-4 years ago. gotta respect him fighting his mandatory when that big of a fight is on the line still. might not have gotten the bigger fight but we live in the correct timeline where usyk is on top.
its not exactly khan/brook levels of late to me yet but this is defo the last year they can do it and i feel it has any level of meaning to it.

No, because that was a guaranteed funny KO. AJ and Fury would probably be a slog.
