Imagine someone going to see a Tom Holland movie

Spiderman but don’t really have to imagine since it made 930m+ opening weekend.

I also saw it and liked it. But pretending these aren't ensemble movies like every other joint is stupid

Zach Snyder didn't crack a billion with the title "Batman vs Superman". Now there's something to laugh at

Spider Man is a bigger property than Avengers and always has been. But they're ensemble films

I guess idk this felt like Spiderman dominated the movie besides for the final act to me. It’d be weird not to see some other people in it when they’re all in New York. Only person he really teams up with is Punisher lol and punisher doesn’t really help much.

Punisher was fine. Didn't need the Hulk. Didn't need the villain backstory. I'd actually prefer a smaller, more focused movie. But that's never what these are

DC needs to stop being let off easy. Superman and Batman should be hitting these Endgame and Brand New Day numbers, there’s no excuses. The only culprit atp is a gross mishandling of the properties

There were some major factors that prevented The Batman from performing better. But the sequel should definitely be able to do $900+ million

Superman is a different story though

Hopefully the goodwill of Superman '25 will pay off with Man of Tomorrow

That + the general success of the Spider-Man character outside the MCU including the Spider-Verse films and the video games, and the fact that the movie itself has generally been received very well

I could also add the small streak Marvel has been on with quality since Thunderbolts

A solid coming of age trilogy with a beloved cast
Member of the Avengers in two Avengers films
Two beloved animated theatrical films
Two huge video games

All before Brand New Day. Where tf has Superman and Batman been aside from one movie for each?

The wait after NWH allowed people to miss Tom in the role

Spider-Man is an insanely famous and beloved character that has his own fanbase/foundation of audience engagement outside of the MCU. Even people who don’t care about these movies will be like ‘I like Spiderman movies, I know about the character, I’ll go see that’. I think Deadpool and guardians have this too. Normal people f*** with them

Tom and Zendaya have gotten somehow more famous since NWH. Their relationship developing, the engagement, wedding etc has exploded them as a duo. Ai generated images of their wedding or them at a barbecue get 10s of millions of likes across social media.

And it also I believe had the largest marketing budget out of any movie in history? So they invested hugely in getting this film out there and letting people know it’s releasing

Also, I don't think it helped a ton, but I think Tom, Zendaya, and Jon being in The Odyssey gave this a little bump as well

Going from a quality film to a quality superhero film

If people saw those three in there and wanted more from them, they only had to wait 2 weeks for Spider-Man
