Interesting movie scene that holds a lot of weight that maybe some of y’all would like seeing

'some improper English s***!'
beautiful. hes so talented & i'm mad that diddy ripped him off
If you already watch her then you probably already know her stances on these but a nice listen regardless
I had no idea a Fred Hampton movie was in the works or that Daniel kaluuya will be playing him. Wtf
i cant believe i been watching her since i was in 8th grade (5 yrs ago).
other than the obvious criticism around him taking up the role, he looks nothing like hampton. i just dont understand why they cant search for BA actors. makes no sense

They don't like us! First chance to start getting rid of us they took lol
Damn you've been watching her for a minute. I've been watching her since around 2017.
There's some real social commentary I seen recently from the other indie directors in the U.S. sad Hollywood cant do the same with their global reach.
Among the best I can recall. Need to find more
I consider Ethnic Notions a must watch documentary for everybody.

You will NEVER have the perspective of a Black American. EVER. It doesn't matter where you were born.
This conversation got stupid fast because you can't separate yourself and not feel personally attacked lmaooo. I'm sorry but I'm telling you a mindset some people have and instead of getting insulted you should've attempted to understand. The fact you got reactive just proves Seren's theory right that we' re massively different and you can't relate.
you can never speak for an ethnic group you don't belong to. People only attempt to do this with Black Americans.
Africa being a continent and some resentment aren't mutually exclusive and has nothing to do with anything. Black Americans & Ghanaian Americans don't really have a conflict though to get specific, this tends to be a conflict with Nigerian Americans.
I'm not sure what's not clicking.... What part of this topic is hard for you to decenter yourself?
You keep talking about media propaganda... Before media was a thing this resentment existed. This was in slave narratives.
If you can't comprehend why a Black American would hold the black folks involved in the slave trade accountable then what are you even doing? You aren't equipped for the topic.
I don't personally have much of an issue with those of the continent lol you just not gonna invalidate my experience by saying you can speak for me because you can't. Never will, you never will be able to.
damn, what happen
In another thread the topic of BA resentment to continental Africans came up, I explained why some people feel this way and he's bringing up s*** about name calling and ignorance which isn't applicable to where those emotions come from lol
I consider Ethnic Notions a must watch documentary for everybody.

He literally tried to minimize it by saying those involved didn't create white supremacist racist structures (we know that, nobody thinks black ppl involved in the slave trade created racism) + "Europeans sold Europeans"
You love putting words in people’s mouths. That’s the last thing I’ll say. You’re the perpetrator of what you’re trying to accuse me of lol.

Way I see it the Chiefs who let the events at Mascarene Islands and Delagoa Bay (for example) go down are just as responsible
It's been said countless times that one of the leading strategies that inflicted the mindset that results today in black on black hate comes from separatism. If your community leader was the source of that rift how can you turn a blind eye? They literally did all they could to make slavery the only viable way out for most
The impact of the slave trade was increasing destabilization of hinterland societies as populations were forcibly removed. The Gaza, Ngoni, and other groups became surrogate slavers and joined the Portuguese soldiers in inland raiding. Along the Limpopo and Vaal river networks, Delagoa Bay slavers competed with Griqua slavers in supplying the Cape. After slavers burned crops and famines became common, many groups—including the Ngwane, Ndebele, and some Hlubi—fled westward into the Highveld mountains during the 1810s and ’20s. The Kololo, on the other hand, moved east out of Transorangia, where they ran into Bay slavers, and migrated west into Botswana. In 1826 they were attacked by an alliance of Ngwaketse and European mercenaries and ended up in Zambia in the 1850s exporting slaves themselves to the Arabs and Portuguese.
Most tribes mentioned here don't even see eye to eye today cause of this

Good examples! Interesting quote, where can I read more about this specifically? (Gaza/Ngoni)
Dismissing peoples feelings is so ridiculous to me lmao. Clear lack of empathy.

Will def drop whatever interesting stuff I find
We love Biko! He is still a big figure especially in today's South African politics. Here's an interesting article you can read from his last bday.
His son was on trial for a domestic violence case not sure how that ended though they were always postponing it.
