Just a thought, but seems safe enough to post here. For people that are against reparations but are defensive and supportive with Jewish people, what's the difference between blacks and jewish people?

my grandmother was a holocaust survivor who received reparations, so I feel as though I could give some perspective.

after the holocaust there were about 11,000,000 jews in the world. there are something like 34,000,000 black people in the US i believe, so that would make black reparations far more expensive than jewish reparations.

a mass genocide of 6,000,000 in less than 10 years is incredibly jarring and especially obvious as it took place during a turning point for mass media. it also wiped out 33% of the entire jewish population. when reparations are made as swiftly as they were, it becomes a lot easier to quantify how much is owed. unfortunately the US has waited 160 years to make reparations for slavery and now it's almost impossible to come up with a fair number that would account for its systemic effects.

not trying to have a d***swinging contest about whose culture has gone through more, but I figured my experience through conversations with my grandmother could help shed some light on your question.

The Basketball Olympics are a great example of what happens when Blacks put their talents together. We're unstoppable and we're literally the only ones that can beat us. Set the egos aside and do what's best for our country. Taking that gold.

We can smash on these nations when we put our minds to it. This goes back to that "black" body metaphor I had.

Dont know much about the subject.

But from history we can learn that there were several puppets or "perceived puppets" in Africa but when they turn their back on their white master they get dealt with quickly.

anyone was in here ? there was a discussion about how some black americans claim being pro black, but will be xenophobic towards africans despite having the same roots

I did not follow this conversation.

    Here my two cents :

Black Americans can have a rough, xenophobic language that Africans are not used too. But Africans must understand that roasting and s*** talking is a big part of black American culture. But in Africa everything you say towards a person is taken very seriously and not being polite is already taken as a form of disrespect.

Of course there is also the possibility off you simply meeting a black American K00n or ignorant person.

And also let's not forget the actual real xenophobia in Africa in countries like South Africa chasing other Africans down the road to go back to their country.

On the flip side you have African immigrants that align themselves with the white power structure AGAINST black Americans.

They disrespect the very black Americans that build this country and allowed them to come to America.

In my view, yes. In order to fully grow, you must leave the home and start your own family, develop a diet, personal views etc. We're living in an abusive house acting as if things are gravy. We can't be basement dwellers in America's house forever. I know when we do break free, in rage America looks to tear us down but our fight shouldn't stop.

We should 'leave'. Take the leap of faith, trust in God and your skillsets. I've left since 2014 and am constantly growing. It hasn't been perfected yet but it's been worth it. Currently looking at developing a better way of living post-covid. As with any structure, it starts with building a solid foundation.

Of course there's only so much we can do here in the States, but breaking free of Babylon/Corporate America is a beautiful process.

We should definitely look for practical solutions even if their drastic.

But you must be weary when people ask you if we want segregation. It's usually a bad faithed trick question to make you seem like a racist.

It doesn't shed light, as you're completely wrong.

But let's take what you just said.

Would it be then fair to say that since slavery was much more extensive than the holocaust, that black people should be given minimum the same amount minimum or simply excaly the same as Jews ? Meaning all of the past reparations and those that are still going.

And if there was another Jewish holocaust today killing 6 millions, are you basically saying that there should not be reparations if we still haven't agreed 160 years later ? So basically if there was a Jewish holocaust today for example a holocaust where black people exterminate 6 million Jews, then according to you we should NOT pay reparations in the year 2181 if we cant agree on the amount before then ?

i never said should or shouldn't. obviously reparations should be paid. dude asked why. i did my best to explain why.

people don't really know much about the holocaust and use it as a bad comparison to US slavery. not because one was worse than another. they're just completely different human rights violations

People know a lot about the holocaust. It's one of the most discussed historic events ever.

And you gave reasons to validate an opinion which means you affirm that position.

And the holocaust is absolutely comparable to slavery. There is no reason the two cant be compared.

And yeah slavery was BY FAR worse than the holocaust.

lmfao you do not determine what i did and what i didn't say. just because i can understand why a s***ty government has a hard time doing the right thing doesn't mean i affirm that position in any way. you're not going to bully me into some position i don't agree with. play that game with a dumber motherfucker.

i answered your question about whether reparations should be paid back 160 years later. if you would like me to rephrase, the answer is a resounding yes. your first question about reparations is exactly what i'm getting at though. holocaust reparations were paid directly to survivors and their children. i never saw my grandmother's reparations. that's why the US has such a hard time dealing with the idea of reparations now. because now they have to account for 160 extra years of the systemic effects of slavery. that's why reparations are much more difficult in their execution. not why they shouldn't be made.
