    No offense but if you’re capping for Sowell like he said you are I really doubt your ability to be critical or aware of what you’re reading.

    You should look into what his economist peers think of the claims he makes his books. His pedigree as an economist is poor outside of education/institutions. He’s seen as being very politically bent and compromising his academic honesty by ignoring obvious biases in his research methods to yield certain results.

    Show me one accredited review that says that or genuine personal critique;
    he has been widely acclaimed by all groups
    And I know of many other black authors and economists that look to his opinions in relation to contrast for historical perspective.

    You’re making a straw man argument.

    Stop hiding behind debate tactics to deflect from the discussion

    If you were being genuine and intellectually curious you can research the academic critics of his work yourself

    I assume you can use Google scholar or your schools library database to access

    Also what I made wasn’t even an arguement let alone a straw man

    Right but this also is a reply to the post below you;

    I have read that, it’s published from 2005 and it’s for the African History / Studies Journal.

    The basis of having a critique is valid, but you can find any number of people who will critique anything also purely on the basis
    Of dissociation of generalized assertions on “racial experience”.

    At that point you are just looking for differing opinions to prove your point, not the accumulated value of criticism .

    In a touchy subject, he is over whelming agreed with cross race.

    okay bro i gave you a chance bc you used some big words but at this point and after having several ppl itt confirm it

    you have no argument. please get out the thread. you have no interest in having a good faith argument about black empowerment, and you are obviously here to debate.

    i mean you’re literally dismissing anna case mic journal released at the time of the release of this work you cite as invaluable criticism. i’m assuming bc it’s a black studies journal?

    there’s nothing you are trying to debate and you’re embarrassing yourself. please find better things to do then harass black people online, it’s
    not the best look.

    Creating an argument that someone doesn’t know something purely based on an example or statement that only encapsulates on you’re saying within that statement
    To seem true within its function

    “Example : you wear blue shoes because your avi is blue, and because you wear blue shoes you must be a nazi”

    Those types of arguments are not based in reality, but the proposition it’s true based on personally pre set conditionals.

    No, and your assumption is also; racist.

    I’m refuting it because of the nature of the criticism, based on its criticism

    Not it’s place or origin;

    In addition to its comparison to all other criticisms.

  • Jun 20, 2021

    It’s these conversations that make me wonder if people are on the internet trying to speak “for black people” as “black people” to mislead others
    About basic ways to save themselves
    Or mostly any one easily influenced
    From the world.

    I did not make an argument.

    I said I doubted your ability to be critical of Sowell’s work because it’s common knowledge amongst modern economists that the claims he makes his book are sus and his actual research output is very little.

    If you want to say the argument is the latter part concerning the significant amount of academics being critical of him then prove to me this is false

    But that IS an argument, and it’s a flawed strawman arguemnt because you cant provide
    Any more than singular resources,
    In relation to overwhelming praise.

    It’s like if there were 99 green fish in a bucket, and one red, and after pulling out the red you claimed there must be more fish
    No matter what anyone told you.

    I’m not an alt, and your assumption that I’m not black is because you feel like I’m not “like you”
    Or don’t “think like you”

    Which is a racist, corporate mindset in America.
