f***in strychnine is so gnarly
that too probably but after he saw Buddy Holly perform in the 50s he always wanted to be a rocker and had a band several times but some rich kid with fancy equipment would alway come along and steal his band
which is why he said f***it and learned how to do solo folk stuff.
After the Beatles invaded in '63 though he was super pumped on rock again, and even misconstrued the lyrics to I Want To Hold Your Hand "I GET BYEEEEE" part as "I GET HIGGGGGGH" so when he met them in '64 he had some joint pre-rolled expecting them to be stoners
so that was the first time the Beatles smoked real weed which kinda changed the course of pop music. Not long after that he gave his label the demo for Mr. Tambourine man, and they gave it to the Byrds who turned it into a folk rock jam that impressed Dylan so much that he was finally inspired to put a band together again
even let the Byrds release their version before his
Ahhh I knew the story of him smoking up the Beatles but I never knew about the rich kid stealing his band lol. Makes sense hearing them play would reawaken his rocker side.
The after show reactions from the UK audience never get old. "That wretched band.. he's changed.. I cannot believe he has done this.."

The original polite Brit "I can't believe you have done this"
Yeah I been reading more about that era and they were deadass performing to boooos for like 3 months
Dylan really didn't give a f*** but Levon Helm of The Band had a mental breakdown and fled back to the states (as a result missed out on alot of primo studio drumming he could have been doing on Blonde On Blonde)

That scene in the Scorsese movie where someone calls in an assassination threat before a show and he freaks out
"Don't tell me I'm pushing too hard man I'M WORRIED ABOUT GETTING SHOT
"

best British Invasion songs of '64
first classic rock and roll year since Buddy Holly died and tbh the best year rock had so far when you include classics from The Beach Boys, Roy Orbison etc from America

was Its All Over Now their first stereo or multitrack recording or something? because the soundstage when you have headphones has more breathing room than anything ve heard recorded before that
its too good

i dont even think i've ever even heard a stereo mix of it tbh
all the stones stuff until like 66-67 i like waaaay better in mono from what i heard. all the earlier stereo stuff i heard was either garbage or fake stereo (also garbage). especially now that they released a Stones in Mono box a few years ago so all the mono stuff is available without a vinyl rip which I had some of before
i have noticed the sound quality of some of that earlier stuff kinda varies though. feel like Out of Our Heads era sounds worse than the previous stuff. maybe just depends on which studios (maybe producers too?) they used cuz iirc it wasnt all in the same place or anything

you definitely need to hear one
yeah i think Now! had better sound than Out Of Heads but probably cause the latter was more more of a collection of stuff they had sitting around iirc. Now is not the best Stones album but it is a classic for its year.

sounds like it yeah
its pretty decent, certainly not a disaster like a lot of them were but I'm still taking the mono. feel like the mono fits a lot of this era material better anyway, better for the dirty scuzz and rhythm sections sound more powerful than in the separated stereo mix where a tambourine is almost as loud as the drums

Yeah this is the only case I prefer stereo for '64
